When you’re young, it’s easy not to worry about wrinkles, since you probably don’t have any. But I have some unfortunate news: A lot of the habits you have now, are ultimately aging your skin quicker, and are slowly but surely giving you wrinkles.
But the good news is that there’s a ton of easy fixes that will put you on the track to looking eternally youthful.
Well, maybe not eternally . But for a lot longer!
Avoiding oil-based makeup and skincare products.

It seems counterintuitive, especially if you suffer from acne-prone skin.
But your skin thrives on oils, so using oil-free products may actually be drying you out which is a major wrinkle instigator.
Not having a skincare regime.
Having a proper skincare routine is essential . But what’s even more important is using the right products for your skin.
You should have a cleaner, toner, moisturizer, serum, and eye cream, as well as an exfoliant that you use once or twice a week.
Avoid exfoliating too often, because it can irritate your skin, and dry it out.
Not getting enough sleep.
This one is pretty obvious.
Not getting enough sleep on a regular basis is going to be the first thing to put wrinkles on your face.
You should be aiming at getting six to eight hours of sleep every night!
Not taking your vitamins.

If you aren’t getting the essential nutrients your body and skin need, you are depriving yourself of feeling and looking amazing, and you’re speeding up the aging process.
Rubbing your eyes.
It feels so good to get lost in an eye-rub trance, but it’s horrible for the skin around your eyes.
It won’t instantly put wrinkles on your face, but over time it will eventually loosen the skin in that area, and cause sagging and wrinkles.
Rubbing lotion in a downward or inward motion on your face.
Similarly to rubbing your eyes, if you’re regularly rubbing your face in a downward or inward motion, you’re pulling your skin in the direction you don’t want it to go.
You can’t control gravity, but you can control the way you rub lotion into your skin.
Not exercising.

Staying active has many benefits for your body, but also your skin.
When you work out, you’re creating blood flow, and sweating out toxins.
Drinking alcohol.

Alcohol can be a great way to let loose, but we often forget how dehydrated it makes us.
When your body is dehydrated, so is your skin. You do the math!
Not drinking enough water.
Drinking as much water as possible each day is going to do wonders, not only for your skin, but for your body and mind.
There are countless benefits of drinking water , so don’t miss out on your eight glasses a day.
Losing weight.

Losing weight can be a wonderful thing. You can feel more confident, have more energy, and avoid many health risks of being overweight.
But the downside is, you will have a lot of excess skin on your body, including your face .
This might a case of giving into the wrinkles if it means you’re living a healthier lifestyle!
Smoking.
It goes without saying (for most of you) that smoking is horrible for you in so many ways.
But one of those ways is that it causes wrinkles around your mouth. Not a cute look if it’s well-before your time!
Not wearing sunscreen.
If you’re going to be out in the sun, it is imperative that apply sunscreen to your body and face, to protect yourself from harmful UVA and UVB rays.
Overusing tanning beds.

Using a tanning bed every once in a blue moon isn’t the worst thing for you.
But if you are steadily maintaining your bronzed look, and not protecting your skin in the process, you are on the express train to wrinkle central.
Not wearing sunglasses.

If you’re going outside on a sunny day, always remember to bring your shades.
Wearing sunglasses will prevent squinting, which causes crows-feet. It will also protect the skin around your eyes from harmful UV rays.
Not having a healthy diet.

If your diet consists of too much sugar, you’re putting yourself at risk for diabetes, losing sleep, and gaining weight.
All things that will age you.
Not moisturizing enough.
As I mentioned before, dry skin is aging skin.
Apply the right lotion for your skin-type every day, twice a day if possible.
This will maintain your skin’s elasticity, and keep it from looking dry or dehydrated.
Washing your face too often.
While it’s very important to wash your face, it is possible to wash it too much .
Your skin produces natural oils that it needs to protect it and keep it hydrated. If you’re stripping those oils, you’re drying out your skin, and lowering its defenses from the elements.
Squinting.
Similar to avoiding not wearing sunglasses in the sun, if you need eyeglasses to see, you should definitely put that at the top of your to-do list.
Otherwise, you’ll be doing a lot more squinting, which causes crows-feet.
Sitting for long periods of time.
Inactivity affects your skin in a major way.
Having at least 30 minutes of exercise every day will keep your blood flowing, and keep you from squinting at your computer, sitting at your desk all day.
Stressing.
Stress can cause you to frown your mouth, or furrow your eyebrows. These expressions are the absolute worst if you’re trying to avoid wrinkles!
Sleeping on your face.

Mushing your face (and your boobs) into your pillow every night for your entire life will eventually break down the collagen in your skin, causing it to sag and wrinkles to form.
Taking hot showers.
It might feel amazing to take a hot shower at the end of a long day.
But hot water is just another way you’re stripping your skin of its natural oils, causing it to age faster.
Drinking from a straw

Staying hydrated is very important, but if you can, avoid doing it with a straw.
Not only are straws bad for the environment, but they’re bad for your skin. If frowning and laughing too often cause wrinkles, then you can bet that repeatedly pursing your lips together to drink from a straw will as well.
