Some people are incredibly lucky to have good relationships with their in-laws. For others, though, it can be a lifetime of navigating a weird, manipulative, or inconvenient relationship. Some in-laws definitely take advantage of their family’s kindness, which is something their actual relatives might not always see.
One woman had enough of her sister-in-law taking advantage of her and her husband. When they all went out to a restaurant together, the woman knew her SIL would “forget” her wallet, so the woman brought it to the restaurant for her. After enduring the SIL’s poor reaction, she took to the Am I The Asshole community on Reddit to ask if she was in the wrong.

As OP Describes It, Her SIL Is Kind Of Bratty.
The SIL, whom she calls Amy, will often visit OP and her husband (Amy’s brother). When she visits, she wants to go to expensive restaurants, but since OP makes the most money, Amy expects OP to pay for their meals. She also conveniently “forgets” to bring her wallet when they go out to eat, meaning that OP has to foot the whole bill.
One day, Amy makes a reservation for a fancy restaurant. Being sick of the whole song and dance, OP doubles back into the house when they’ve all left, grabs Amy’s wallet, and then rejoins them. When it comes time for the bill, Amy declares that she left her wallet at OP’s house. When OP pulls it out, Amy gets angry over the fact that OP touched her stuff.
In an update, OP claims that Amy found the post and got angry at her once again. But it seems like Amy won’t be having the last laugh here.

Sure, OP touched Amy’s personal property. But it was a pretty necessary evil to teach her a lesson. At least, that’s how many users felt.
