John Mayer’s past is coming back to haunt him.
His recent comments on male privilege in the music industry have fans calling on him to apologize for his past treatment of Hollywood women.

John Mayer may be single ATM, but his past is rife with many Hollywood exes.
This includes everyone from Katy Perry to Taylor Swift to Minka Kelly. He even dated Jennifer Aniston for a time.
But one of his most notable relationships was the one he shared with singer Jessica Simpson.
The pair first hit it off in 2005 when they met at a Grammy party.
Mayor had been impressed by a song Jessica had written called “With You” and soon started writing notes to her.
But since Jessica was fresh off her divorce from Nick Lachey, she wasn’t looking for anything serious.
This didn’t bode well with Mayer, according to Jessica in her memoir, *Open Book*.
She wrote that Mayer told her “he wanted to have all of me or nothing.” Eventually, the pair started dating secretly and even fell madly in love.
“Again and again, he told me he was obsessed with me, sexually and emotionally,” she wrote.
This was just the beginning of cracks in their relationship, as Simpson shared that she felt insecure around him.
“I constantly worried that I wasn’t smart enough for him,” she shared.
She shared that she started drinking heavily around him to mask her nerves. “My anxiety would spike and I would pour another drink.”
In the end, it was his infamous *Playboy* interview that ended their relationship.
In it, he called Jessica a “sexual napalm.” This was something that embarrassed the singer to no end.
“He thought that was what I wanted to be called,” she said. “I was floored and embarrassed that my grandmother was actually gonna read that.”
During that same interview, he also said some not-so-nice things about Jennifer Aniston, another ex.
He questioned her ability to use technology and threw shade towards the Friends star’s career.
“The brunt of her success came before TMZ and Twitter. I think she’s still hoping it goes back to 1998.”
Now, the singer’s words are coming back to haunt him.
It all started when he made comments on the documentary Framing Britney Spears during an interview with Radio Andy on SiriusXM.
“I almost cried five times during that,” he told host, Andy Cohen. The doc has since caused Justin Timberlake to apologize for being part of the media demonizing her.
“Because if you understand what this business/industry/lifestyle does to a person,” he said.
“To go through this and come out the other side OK, is to have infinite grace for those who struggle with it,” he continued.
He then reflected on male privilege in the music industry, saying that he came out okay. “I have a very strong feeling that part of that is because I’m a man.”
“And I have a very strong feeling that a lot of these things that happen to female performers is endemic to being female.”
But given the singer’s treatment of Hollywood women, many people weren’t believing John’s comments.
They’re even calling for him to apologize to the women he has hurt.
“lol…anyway, read Jessica Simpson’s memoir if you want to know what this dude is like,” wrote another.
Another fan pointed out that John dated Taylor Swift when she was just a teenager. At the time, he was 32 while she was 19.
Since Mayer publically slammed Taylor’s song about him called “Dear John,” calling it ” cheap writing ,” people are blaming him for perpetuating her “boy crazy” reputation.
More and more people are pointing out the irony in Mayer’s words.
“Too bad he was part of the problem. He spoke about Jessica Simpson and Taylor Swift the same way JT did Britney. Do not applaud this,” this fan wrote .
