It’s the one thing fans really look forward to most when it comes to the Golden Globes. Sure, there are awards given out and beautiful outfits adorned by celebs.
But that’s nothing in comparison to Gervais, comedian and creator of The Office, telling celebrities what he really thinks of them.
The award show in 2020 was no exception. “You’ll be pleased to know that this is my last time hosting these awards. I don’t care anymore,” Gervais began his speech.
Translation: he will say anything he likes.
He Proceeded to Rip the Celebs to Shreds
For example, he called them out for using their platform to speak about important issues.
“Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg, so if you win, come up, accept your little award, thank your agent and your god and [expletive] off,” he said.
He also made a joke about actor Leonardo DiCaprio’s dating history. After Gervais talked about how long The Irishman and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood run for, he jabbed at Leo by saying, “Leonardo DiCaprio attended the premiere, and by the end his date was too old for him.”

Just look at Tom Hanks’s face here! He was shown looking fed up, thus leading him to become a meme that Twitter went nuts over. “Put Tom Hanks in the meme Hall of Fame with Chrissy Teigen,” wrote one viewer.
One of Ricky’s Most Famous Insults Was Aimed at Jennifer Lawrence
Yep, even females aren’t safe from Ricky! He roasted the Hunger Games actress when he addressed how she advocates equal pay for women in Hollywood.
While people applauded Jennifer’s work at closing the pay gap, she looked nervous about what was to come.
“There were marches on the street with nurses and factory workers saying, “How the hell can a 25-year-old live on $52 million?” Ricky said.
Thankfully, Jen was a great sport about it and laughed!
We’ll have to wait until January 10, 2023, for the Live Broadcast of the 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards to see if Ricky performs again!
