The family of Juliana Marins, the Brazilian tourist who was trapped in an active volcano in Indonesia after falling from a cliff during a hike, are accusing the local search and rescue team of negligence after Marins was found dead.
Her family made a post on social media

As shared by the Brazilian broadcaster TV Globo, Marins’ family made a post on Instagram on Wednesday, June 25, writing, “Juliana suffered great negligence on the part of the rescue team.”
They believe the team reached her too late

“If the team had reached her within the estimated time of 7 hours, Juliana would still be alive,” the post continued.
“Juliana deserved much more! Now we are going to seek justice for her, because that is what she deserves! Don’t give up on Juliana!”
Marins fell on Saturday

According to a translated statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Marins, 26, fell from a cliff that surrounds a trail next to the crater of Mount Rinjani on the Indonesian island of Lombok on Saturday, June 21.
Authorities found her dead

Authorities announced on Tuesday, June 24, that Marins’ body had been found after multiple days of searching.
“After four days of work, made difficult by adverse weather, ground and visibility conditions in the region, teams from the Indonesian Search and Rescue Agency found the body of the Brazilian tourist,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil said.
Her body was taken to a nearby hospital

An Instagram post from Gunung Rinjani National Park stated that on Wednesday, a rescue team evacuated Marins’ body, which they later took to Indonesia’s Bhayangkara Hospital.
“This evacuation involved cross-agency collaboration and volunteers, working in extreme terrain with unpredictable weather,” the post read in part.
Marins’ father said the embassy didn’t help

Brazilian newspaper Folha reported that the hiker’s father Manoel Marins identified her body, with the Brazilian Embassy in Jakarta also confirming the news.
The father previously said that the embassy hadn’t been offering any help to the family. “The Brazilian government, which we’ve tried to contact, is also not helping us,” he told TV Globo, per The Daily Beast and Newsweek.
“This is very sad and extremely serious. She is a 26-year-old girl, a Brazilian citizen, and no one—except family and friends—seems to care,” the father added.
Her family also alleged they were given false information

The Daily Beast also reported that Marins’ family alleged that the search and rescue team doctored a video of her rescue, adding that they received misleading claims that she was given food and water.
“The Indonesian government is lying, and the embassy is not verifying the facts before informing us,” Juliana’s sister Marianna said. “She is not receiving supplies.”
