An old video of Kamala Harris talking about Donald Trump has started making the rounds again.
It’s popping up now because of the chaos in Los Angeles, where protests broke out after ICE raids. The whole situation got more intense when Trump sent in the National Guard.
In the video, Harris had warned people about Trump wanting too much power. Now people online are saying she was right all along.
Trump sends in the military during LA unrest
Trump, who started his second term back in January, responded to the protests by calling for arrests.
He also decided to send in 700 Marines and ordered another 2,000 National Guard troops to hit the streets of LA.
A legal battle is already underway
But here’s the thing: he didn’t tell California Governor Gavin Newsom before moving the troops.
Now Newsom’s gearing up to sue the Trump administration over what he’s calling an abuse of force.
People are revisiting Harris’s warning
After all this happened, a clip from when Harris was vice president started spreading on social media.
The post said, “Federalizing the National Guard in California isn’t ‘normal’. It’s the first move. Kamala Harris called it: Trump wants unchecked power and praised Hitler’s generals.”
She compared Trump’s mindset to Hitler’s
In the video, Harris talked about a conversation with John Kelly, Trump’s former chief of staff.
She said Kelly, who’s a retired four-star general, told her that Trump “wanted generals like Adolf Hitler had.”
Then she added, “It is deeply troubling and incredibly dangerous that Donald Trump would invoke Adolf Hitler, the man who is responsible for the deaths of 6 million Jews and hundreds of 1000s of Americans.”
Harris said Trump wanted loyalty, not law
According to her, Trump wasn’t looking for a military that follows the Constitution.
She said, “Donald Trump said that because he does not want a military that is loyal to the United States Constitution. He wants a military that is loyal to him.”
She continued, “He wants a military who will be loyal to him, personally, one that will obey his orders even when he tells them to break the law or abandon their oath to the Constitution of the United States.”
She warned he would turn on Americans
Harris also pointed out how Trump had talked about using the military against people in the U.S.
She said, “In just the past week [late October 2024], Donald Trump has repeatedly called his fellow Americans the enemy from within, and even said that he would use the United States military to go after American citizens.”
Then she explained what kind of people he might target, saying, “And let’s be clear about who he considers to be the enemy from within, anyone who refuses to bend a knee or dares to criticize him would qualify, in his mind, as the enemy within, like judges, like journalists, like non partisan election officials.”
Her warning got more intense
Harris didn’t hold back. She said Trump had become “increasingly unhinged and unstable,” and even called him a “fascist.”
She also said, “people like John Kelly would not be there to be the guardrails against his propensities and his actions” if Trump got a second term.
The clip ends with a clear message
She closed the speech with a pretty serious takeaway.
“Those who once tried to stop him from pursuing his worst impulses would no longer be there and no longer be there to rein him in.”
Then came the main point: “So the bottom line is this, we know what Donald Trump wants. He wants unchecked power.”
