A new poll has shown how the American people really feel about Donald Trump’s presidency so far.
Trump has led a lot of changes
The 47th POTUS has led multiple – often controversial – changes in government since he returned to the White House for a second term in January.
One of the changes was a stronger clamp down on immigration than his predecessor, which has led to the recent anti-ICE protests in LA.
He insists the changes are for the better
The LA protests have since been escalating after Trump called for the National Guard to be present on the streets.
On top of the clamp down on immigration, Trump has also caused changes in the American and wider global economies after enforcing intense tariffs on most countries and industries before reducing them back down.
A new poll has been released
As the president insists these changes are to ‘Make America Great Again’, it seems the majority of Americans disagree.
A new poll released by Quinnipiac University on Wednesday, June 11 has revealed that only 38% of Americans approve of Trump’s work as president so far, while 54% showed an overall disapproval.
They weighed in on the specifics too
The poll asked for people’s stances on a few specific things Trump has been handling.
In regards to the economy, the poll found that Trump ranked lowly on how he was managing trade. This is with just 38% approving of his stance on the economy.
He ranked low on immigration too
Trump has usually polled well for immigration, but this recent poll shows that people’s opinions of his handling of immigration have dipped.
54% of people who were involved in the poll disapproved of how Trump was handling immigration, while only 43% approved.
They also weighed in on Russia and Ukraine
Americans also weighed in on how Trump was handling the war between Russia and Ukraine.
The majority don’t seem on board with the president’s moves as only 34% showed approval of his methods in handling America’s involvement in the war.
Republicans don’t mind DOGE as much
In regards to the creation of DOGE and employing Elon Musk as its head before he and Trump fell out, it doesn’t seem like Republicans minded it as much.
Polling analyst Tim Malloy said in a statement, “Though Musk isn’t as popular with Republicans as he once was, he and DOGE get a hearty high five from a healthy majority of Republicans.”
What these results actually mean
Opinion polls like these have led to one strategist claiming that the Trump administration could eventually ‘collapse’.
There sure hasn’t been a dull day in America since Trump became president.
