Jimmy Wayne Carwyle, of New Albany, Mississippi, 48, escalated his stalking game as he crashed his car into Friends star Jennifer Aniston’s home gate while she was still in her residence.
Carwyle was arrested and charged with felony stalking and vandalism. He stalked Aniston by sending her unwanted voicemails, emails, and social media messages for two years before the car crash.
What went down
48-year-old Carwyle collided with Aniston’s front gate in Los Angeles’ wealthy Bel Air neighborhood with his grey Chrysler PT Cruiser on Monday, May 5.
Security guards caught Carwyle in the driveway before police arrived and arrested him. Police confirmed that Aniston was home at the time and prosecutors stated that the collision caused major damage.
What awaits Carwyle
In addition to the felony stalking and vandalism charges, he faces an aggravating circumstance of great bodily harm threat, Los Angeles County district attorney Nathan Hochman confirmed, as reported by SkyNews.
No one, including Aniston, was harmed during the collision.
He’s been in jail ever since his arrest
Carwyle was set to appear in court on May 8. His bail was set at $150,000 and is facing the risk of being imprisoned for three years if he is convicted as charged.
“My office is committed to aggressively prosecuting those who stalk and terrorize others, ensuring they are held accountable,” Mr. Hochman said in a statement.
Carwyle’s longtime friend weighed in
Carwyle’s longtime friend, Steve Rhea, told NBC News that the 48-year-old quit his job five years ago and his life has since spiraled down. He believed himself to be a Christ-like figure who was married to Aniston.
“If someone out there can reach Jennifer Joanna Aniston Carwyle, let her know about the corruption going on trying to keep Me from her, you will be Blessed!” he wrote on social media in October.
He even left Mississippi
Rhea confirmed that Carwyle left Mississippi in September to live out of his car at a Walmart Supercenter in Burbank, a Los Angeles suburb.
Another friend pointed out that Carwyle started being concerned for his well-being since the pandemic, claiming that his “personality changed.”
His friends hope he gets the help he needs
“I really hate that this happened to Miss Aniston; this was terrible,” Marty Merritt told NBC News. “But since it did, the only thing I hope is this would get enough attention, attention that could get Jimmy some help. He needs some serious help. This is rock bottom.”
