Meghan Markle took to Instagram to write a love letter to Prince Harry on Valentine’s Day, and while many fans found the message heartwarming, it didn’t come without the usual anger from Royal fans.
Meghan posted the message on Instagram
The Duchess of Sussex posted the love letter to her husband on Instagram with a wholesome black and white photo of the two kissing to celebrate the day of love.
Harry and Meghan appeared to be sitting at a little dinner date, with burgers, fish, and chips laid out in front of them.
She mentioned her husband’s hard work
In the post caption Meghan wrote, “Back home taking care of our babies, and missing my Valentine, as he continues on at the Invictus Games, changing lives and reminding all of us of the power of healing and resilience through these incredible veterans and their families. Beyond proud of my husband and what he’s created.”
The Duchess ended it on a loving note
“My love, I will eat burgers & fries and fish & chips with you forever. Thank you for you. #lovewins. As ever, M,” the 43-year-old ended her letter.
Social media users noticed the sweet promise she made to Prince Harry, pointing out their love towards the couple.
Her message touched a lot of fans
A lot of people left sweet comments on her post, with one writing, “Meghan really said, ‘My love, I will eat burgers and fries and fish and chips with you forever.’ She loves that man your honor. Their love is everything.”
Another also said, “A simple message from Meghan to Prince Harry that beautifully captures their enduring love. I love their love.”
A third also quoted, “Oh, Meghan and Harry. They will eat burgers and fries and fish and chips forever…”
Others didn’t like the post so much
While a lot of users felt the Duchess’ love for the Duke, others took the opportunity to compare their relationship to Prince William and Kate Middleton and their message to each other on Valentine’s Day.
William and Kate’s official account on X/Twitter shared an image of the two sitting in nature with William kissing Kate on the cheek. The caption was a simple red heart emoji.
Some users didn’t like Meghan’s post
One account on X/Twitter, Royal News Network, which is known for analyzing things related to the royal family, compared the two couples, taking a particular jab at Meghan.
“Meghan can’t help but copy, especially when she will always feel inferior,” they wrote.
“William and Catherine only felt the need to sign with a ❤️. Nothing more and nothing less. Meghan, of course, needed a long and inane diatribe on ‘my love’ and seeing them suck face again to sell it.”
Other users chimed in on the insults
Some users chimed in on the jab at the Duchess and particularly focused on their negative feelings towards her caption.
One person wrote, “And can’t even let the pic stand on its own, but has to include a slobbery ‘tribute’ as well.”
One user mercilessly called her ‘pitiful’
“Oh good grief,” one netizen wrote, “Walmart Wallis’s utter lack of originality and creativity is pitiful. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her put out anything that wasn’t an inferior copy of someone else’s output.”
Another observed her signature, saying, “I got even more irritated after Meghan’s Mole pointed out her signature of ‘M’ — just like Catherine’s signature.”
“Very fake, Can’t see anything authentic about Meghan,” another netizen wrote.
Meghan and Harry’s love prevails
Despite the hate and the ruthless scolding, it’s clear that the love between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry prevails, as they seem pretty determined to make their happiness last a very long time.
