31-year-old Liam Payne tragically passed away on October 16 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires.

Just days before he passed away, Payne actively posted on Snapchat. He even shared videos from Niall’s concert, where he and his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, were seen singing and dancing along. In the days leading up to his death, Cassidy had already left Argentina.
Kate addressed the rumors
There were a lot of rumors claiming that they had broken up after being together for two years. But in her first interview since Liam passed, Cassidy set the record straight and shut those rumors down.
The ACTUAL medical cause of Liam’s death
A UK inquest later confirmed that the cause of the singer’s death was ‘polytrauma’ after he fell from the third-floor balcony of the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires on October 16, 2024.
Cassidy regrets leaving him in Argentina
Cassidy shut down the rumors that she left because of a fight or a breakup and explained that she went back to Miami to take care of their rescue dog, Nala.
“I had a responsibility, we had a responsibility. We had our dog, and obviously I never, ever thought this event would occur,” she said.
The reason she left had nothing to do with Liam
“It was a tragic accident and no, I never did think (he might die young). But, you know, we did have our own separate lives—this wasn’t the first time we have traveled separately,” Cassidy said.
They thought their stay in Argentina would be short
The 25-year-old mentioned that they originally thought they’d be in Argentina “for about a week, give or take,” but ended up staying for two.
She later found out about his death through TikTok!
Two days after arriving at their home in Miami, Cassidy was scrolling through TikTok when she got a call with the heartbreaking news.
“I didn’t believe it at first. I thought it was just a rumour. Or something that somebody made up just to get views. Then instantly I just had a bad feeling in my gut. I was like, ‘Why would somebody make this up? Is this true?’” She said.
She confirmed that Liam was in good headspace when she left
The influencer called their relationship a “fairytale romance” and shared that they had planned to get married.
Losing her “soulmate,” she said she “always wanted to be there for him.” “I genuinely always really did try to do anything I could do to help,” she added.
Looking back, Cassidy admitted that if she “could see into the future,” she “would never have left” him there without her.
