If there is one thing that all women know to be true, it’s that the “night shift” at home is the worst part of their day. Whether you’re a stay-at-home mom or a working mom, 5-7 p.m. are the absolute worst for everyone involved.
Moms know that those “witching hours” for them and their families are simply just too much overstimulation, questions, and far too many things to do.
At the center of it all? Dinner.
Every mom hates the dreaded question

No matter what they’ve done that day, no matter what they have gone through, their husband or children will find a way to pose the question — “What’s for dinner?”
Most women hate having to make the decisions because if the answer is something that the kids and hubby don’t want, it’ll cause a chaotic mess right before their eyes.
But, one TikTok mom recently pointed out something even more real

TikTok user @angusthelabel pointed out that she simply hates dinner. And, that’s not because she just hates cooking it. Well, that’s part of it. But, she in general, hates dinner.
She hates having to shop for it, think about it, talk about it, cook it, and then clean up after it. In fact, she pointed out that she doesn’t even want to eat dinner at all.
Instead, she wants to rot

You know when you get home after a long day, and you throw on some sweatpants and an old T-shirt. Then, you curl up on the couch with your phone and something mindless playing in the background. You scroll endlessly while your left hand is in a bag of chips and your right hand is swiping up to the next TikTok video — rotting. We love it, we live for it, we need it.
But dinner prevents us from having that time

Instead of being able to rot and turn our brains off, wives and moms all over the world are forced to slave away in the kitchen to make a meal they don’t really want. All the while, watching their families barely want to eat it anyway.
Then, we’re left to clean up, put away leftovers that’ll probably go moldy in a week, and figure out the rest of everyone’s bedtime routines. Sound fun? I think not.
The TikTok user even brought up a valid point

@angusthelabel claimed that if it were up to us — if we were single and alone — we’d eat something simple. We don’t need a big fancy meal, we just want some junk food and maybe some two-day-old leftovers because it’s easy and right there.
I mean, there was a reason that “girl dinner” went viral all over TikTok last year, am I right?
It seems women everywhere couldn’t agree more

Women from all over commented on the video, sharing that they really do hate dinner.
“I’ve been a wife and mum for 25 years. I HATE dinner. HATE IT. I don’t want to eat it, cook it, plan it, clean it. I don’t want to think about it,” mummabos said.
The questions begin far too early in the day, sometimes

“9am – husband – what are we having for dinner. This freakin 9am in the morning!!! Let me drink my coffee,” exclaimed Chanlo.
“The amount of times I’ve said ‘why can’t we just cancel dinners’ in the past month. And my husbands response ‘it’s all good I’ll make it’s.. NOT THE POINT,” shared Mel5466.
Plus, it’s a lot of pressure

“I swear dinner gives me the biggest anxiety cos I’m supposed to come up with food that’s budget friendly but nutritious. It has to be varied and interesting and I’m supposed to know how to achieve it,” asked Ann-Marie Meurs.
And we have to clean

“Also, by the end of eating said “dinner” you have to clean up! You don’t have that with microwave/ takeaway/ snacky foods, you just chuck it in the rubbish and maybe clean one fork,” claimed LaToya.
And, when our hubbies are away…

“When my husband leaves for work I’m estatic. “Dinner” is chips, maybe some cheese, handful of grapes and some chocolate chips,” shared noriofthenorth.
“My husband was working away for 3 months and all I ate was microwave meals, takeaways and snacks. He came back yesterday and I’m so sick of him asking what do you want for dinner already,” added Lisa_Tee.
But there are some meals we love

“I LOVE breakfast. WHY? Everyone knows how to make their own, and no one is obliged to have whatever anyone else has chosen to eat. . I HATE dinner,” wrote TikTok user Nic.
“Breakfast is exclusively self serve in this house,” added abracadanielle.
We hate other meals just as much

“School lunch. I HATE school lunch! Between my kid’s pickiness and the other kids’ allergies…it’s so much worse than dinner,” wrote Lauren Katrina.
Others agreed that packing school lunches has become impossible with restrictions and rules.
Some people have cracked the code, too

“The kids and I have switched to “lazy dinner” which is essentially cereal, fruit, and/or some leftovers in the fridge. They eat the bulk of their food during the day and none of us are in the mood,” said Laura.
Or found ways to improvise

“Every night at 5pm (ish) I release this crazy, carnal, depressing & fairly loud sigh when I realize I have to feed these people again. That’s when my husband starts throwing out take out ideas,” explained Tina Salonek.
Some people think dinner is “a thing of the past”

“I think the concept of dinner, all sitting down at a certain time, is old hat. it was constructed for those at work/are at school all day long and didn’t see each other until the end of the day,” claimed .pretty.lights.
It seems the verdict is in
While dinner is one of the three staple meals, us women would be perfectly fine if we canceled it all together. No questions, no cooking, no cleaning, and certainly more time for us to rot on the couch and scroll on our phones after a long day.
