Josh Gad, the voice behind the beloved snowman Olaf from Frozen, recently made a surprising confession during a live event. The actor jokingly admitted that if given a chance, he “would not have lent that snowman my voice.”
This revelation left the audience in gasps, quickly followed by laughter.
Gad explained that he finds it awkward when children recognize his voice in unexpected places.

“It’s very weird being in a supermarket and having a little child go,” he said, motioning to a child staring at him. He called it his “first big mistake.”
Despite his playful regrets, Gad acknowledged that people often compliment him on his unique voice.

He said, “They seem to like my voice, so I try to give it to them when I can.” It’s clear that fans aren’t as critical as Gad is of himself.
The video, shared on the Fan Expo TikTok account, sparked many reactions.

One fan commented, “Olaf wouldn’t be Olaf without HIS voice,” encapsulating the sentiments of many who find Gad’s voice essential to the character’s charm.
Another person chimed in with a familiar line,

One fan humorously shared:

“Okay but could you imagine being the child in a supermarket and all of a sudden you hear Olaf in the baking aisle?” This comment had others laughing in agreement at the surreal image.
Fans also marveled at Gad’s versatility, with one user saying,

Amid the praise, some couldn’t resist imagining alternate voice actors for Olaf.

One fan joked, “Imagine Liam Neeson as Olaf,” to which another responded, “Or Christopher Walken,” followed by laughing emojis.
Gad landed the role of Olaf through what he describes as a lucky break. Originally, Disney had been looking for someone who could bring humor and heart to the lovable snowman in Frozen. Gad, known for his comedic timing and distinct voice, was asked to audition after impressing casting directors with his work in The Book of Mormon.
His quirky charm and ability to make Olaf both innocent and hilarious sealed the deal, and Disney knew they had found the perfect voice for their snowman. The rest, as they say, is history!
Gad’s fans made it clear: Olaf’s voice is irreplaceable.
“But that voice is iconic; it makes Olaf seem so gentle and innocent and smart and oblivious,” one person pointed out. It’s hard to picture the character with any other voice.
In the end, while Gad may joke about his performance, the audience clearly wouldn’t have it any other way.
