Twins sure can be tricky, especially identical ones! For one substitute teacher, the quandry of identical twins became a full-on issue when she realized the already-identical twins also sported near-identical names. She took to Reddit to rant, and the replies revealed even more horrifying twin name choices.
In the now-deleted post, the teacher revealed the names of the kids she was teaching

The teacher was substituting when she encountered a set of identical twin girls named Selene and Selina. Baffled at that naming choice, she posted on the subreddit r/namenerds to express her shock at the choices the girls’ parents had made.
Users quickly chimed in with more insane names

“My husband went to school with twins named Chris & Christopher,” boogin92 said.
Another user replied to them, adding: “My dad knows twins his age named Rick/Ricky and Richard.”
Now why on earth would you do that not only to your kids, but to yourself? Imagine trying to get the attention of one and having to constantly clarify which Chris or Ricky you meant. What a nightmare.
The hits kept coming

“McKenzie, McKenna, and McKinley. Don’t know what they would’ve done if they had a fourth girl,” incogspeedo said.
At that point, let’s just be glad all of those names were spelled semi-normally. I can’t imagine the struggle of those girls got stuck with the more creative versions of their names.
Some moms matched their kids’ names to their own name

“I know someone with a daughter named Alexandria and a son named Alexander.
Edit: forgot to mention the moms name is Andrea,” danger_boogie wrote.
This is giving Gilmore Girls vibes. Lorelai named Rory after herself, after all. At some point you have to realize you’ve gone too far, though, right? Right?
Choosing the exact same name is crazy

ConnectMyDotz replied: “Yessss worked as a TA before and worst names I saw for twins for Kathy and Kathie no middle names so they literally had same name diff spelling big oof.”
I somehow understand names that sound kind of the same more than I understand using the exact same name for both kids. Changing the spelling does not change the way they’re pronounced out loud!
Using a celebrity’s full name sure is a choice one parent made

I think Marilyn went through enough in life, let’s spare her the namesake thing and all agree to never do that to another set of kids ever again. And honestly, no celebrity deserves to be enshrined like that, no matter how much we may love them! We will never know those people and they will never know us!
Now why would you name your child that?

“Unique and Uniqua. Identical twins. So glad I only had one of them in class, I don’t think I could have taught both with a straight face.
I also knew a set named Marilyn and Carolyn,” nerdylady86 said.
I so often keep asking myself why parents name their kids the most insane things possible, and I know I’m never going to get an answer that satisfies me. Good luck out there, Unique and Uniqua.
This one is just brutal

“I grew up with twins named Cain and Abel at my school. Abel was in a wheelchair and disabled enough to basically never leave home, and Cain was a total dick who burnt books he stole from me to make me cry lmao,” Two FingersWhiskey said.
This is one of those stories you hope is fake, but you know is too detailed and too weird to not be real. Here’s hoping those kids applied for name changes as soon as they were able to.
I’m starting to think these parents are actually insane

“I went to school with three brothers Cory, Tacory and Jacory. Oddly enough just Cory was the youngest,” Last-Caregiver-1122 revealed.
There’s only so many times I can ask “why” in one post. But really…WHY. Upside, Tacory’s nickname is absolutely Taco, which is a pretty cute nickname. And if it isn’t, I will be furious. That’s such a wasted opportunity.
Giving them the same nickname? I’m so done

“Not twins but siblings Charlotte and Charles. It took me forever to realize that she had 2 kids and not one nicknamed Charlie.”
Guys, I cannot handle any more of this nonsense. These parents should probably be in name jail and be forced to hear other people’s takes on their kids’ names before ever putting pen to birth certificate. Oh my goodness.
