Music lovers know there is nothing quite like seeing your favorite bands and singers live, in person. Going to a concert is an experience that is truly like no other — you get to feel, see, and breathe the music right in front of your very eyes. Being in a crowd while your favorite song blasts and singing along with thousands of other people is euphoric.
While everyone loves a good concert, there are some situations where things can go south. Concerts are usually harmonious and fun, but there is no short of drama among individuals at shows. In fact, there are quite a few fights and arguments that break out at concerts frequently.
Recently, one mom shared an experience she had at a concert she attended

Writing into the parenting forum Mums Net, user MangosteenSoda said that she recently attended a concert where she sat at the side of the stage. During the set from the musicians, the mom wanted to stand up and truly enjoy the concert.
In her experience, most people stand during concerts, and around “a quarter of the crowd started standing” along with her.
Universally, she said, many people do stand at concerts to dance and enjoy the music.
A few songs in, however, someone tapped her arm

A lady sitting behind her asked the mom to sit down so her boyfriend/husband could see the stage. The woman declined the request and said, “I’m sorry, but this is a concert.” She added that there were jumbo screens and monitors showing the stage, and she definitely wasn’t blocking any of those from the people behind her.
Eventually, the whole crowd was standing

The Mums Net user said that when the band played their most famous song, the entire crowd stood up — including the woman and her boyfriend/husband. Everyone was singing and dancing along and having a good time. However, something bothered the guy, and the couple stormed out of the show.
The woman felt she was “only asked to sit” because she was an “easy target”

“It annoyed me that the woman had to ask for the guy and that it was put to me that I should sit because this guy’s preference was all important. I also felt sad for the woman because she was wearing the band t-shirt (so I assumed she was the fan) and this guy seemed to ruin her night with his moans and complaints while she just seemed to want to dance and enjoy the concert like everyone else,” she wrote on the post.
She asked if she was being unreasonable for not sitting down when asked

Most people felt she wasn’t being unreasonable, especially if the concert wasn’t a “seated show.” Many show tickets will indicate whether or not a show is a seated performance.
When it comes to concerts, they’re usually not — so the couple had to have known that people would be standing, singing, and dancing along.
Many said it’s unreasonable to expect everyone to sit

A lot of people said that when you go to a show, even with seats, not everyone will sit.
“It’s crazy to expect anyone to sit the full way through a concert, even with seated tickets. Not being able to see is likely even with standing tickets, tall people always block your view,” one person pointed out.
Some argue it depends on the concert

Some people online said it depends who is performing and what type of concert it is.
“It depends very much on what kind of concert it is. Taylor Swift, get up and dance. Beethoven’s fifth symphony, please remain seated.
I was five months pregnant when we went to see The Prodigy (had bought the tickets before I got pregnant). I happily stayed seated when I felt too tired, it would be ridiculous to want everyone in front of me to seat down just because I couldn’t stand,” wrote one mom.
Others shared this had happened to them in the past, as well

“Had this happen years ago. Hall had a centre aisle with seating either side. We were on the front row nearer to the wall than the aisle. Everyone stood up to dance and naturally drifted nearer to the centre. Woman and her partner sat next to us were the only ones probably in the whole place still seated with faces on them like thunder,” wrote another Mums Net user.
However, some people said they would be annoyed

Others shared that if someone wants to stand, they should get floor seats with no actual seats.
“I have joint problems – not enough I need a disabled seat, but I can only stand for about ten minutes at a time before it gets uncomfortable. I would expect people with seats at a concert to be seated. This would have really upset me if you were in front of me honestly as you would have ruined my night. If you want to stand get a standing ticket surely,” wrote one user.
Do you think that she was being unreasonable?
