Everyone wants to look good in photos. There’s nothing wrong with that at all. But most of us have a certain level of understanding that not every pic is going to be a good one.

Some of us, though, are willing to (attempt to) bend reality in an effort to look better. And we’re calling them out.

Those anime eyes.

“Lady on Facebook insists that there’s no editing, and any comments saying otherwise are blocked,” wrote the person who posted this. If you’re going to claim something is unedited, at least make it believable.

Oh my god your foot.

Lots of people have probably looked at this pic without a second thought. But if you scroll down to the bottom and look at this model’s right foot, there’s something very wrong.

Must be a gravitational field.

One of the laziest model Photoshop tricks is to warp body proportions without paying any attention to the background. You can see how the curtains, as well as her body, have been tweaked.

Strongman competition.

There has to be a wall in this gym that doesn’t have mirrors on it. Maybe the person who got roped into photographing this guy knew exactly what they were doing.

Glamour shot.

People generally don’t look their best in a mugshot. That’s a given. But some people apparently feel the need to alter these shots in an effort to look better.

That fence has been around the world.

This guy says he travels around the world. I’ll just take his word for it that he does, and also that he takes his own personal fence with him everywhere he goes.

Don’t I know you from somewhere?

This is the laziest kind of Instagrammer: someone who’d rather paste the same low-res shots of himself in front of different backgrounds. He could just take different photos, and then paste them in front of different backgrounds.

I’m blinded.

This guy wants to show off the fact that he’s ordered an obscene amount of McDonald’s for some reason. He also wants to show off the fact that his teeth have their own backlighting system.

Raindrops aren’t fallin’ on my head.

Imagine going out in a rainstorm so wet, so intense, and so definitely-not-Photoshopped that the rain doesn’t even make your hair wet. This must be an authentic photo.

Not fooling anyone.

Is that steering wheel located…on the passenger side? Right smack in the middle of the vehicle? Or is it a poorly rendered Photoshop job, for some unknown reason?

Whoa.

This is the kind of rarified circle I’ll never understand: the people who are so successful as Instagram influencers that they’ve spontaneously grown a second belly button.

Not how reflections work.

I’m not great at analyzing photos, but I think I know how reflections work. They don’t usually reflect a totally different scene. Unless, that is, you’re on Instagram, of course.

No knuckles.

Photo editing apps make it incredibly easy to smooth over blemishes and wrinkles. That’s fine. You do you and all that. I just don’t understand why you’d use those filters to smooth out your knuckles.

Smooth dog.

Back to the smoothed-over filters with this one. Why would you subject your poor dog to your unrealistic beauty standards by airbrushing them into oblivion? I’m sure it’s a cute dog when not smoothed out.

Hmmm.

This was a mini scandal in the Instagram world a few months back. People have become very good at Photoshopping themselves into different locations. They just don’t think to modify the clouds.

Packed house.

This singer was caught cloning his audience to make it look like he was playing in front of a packed house. He should have just used a pic of Live Aid or something.

It really pops.

Tattoo artists have also been known to use trickery to make their pieces look better. I’m sure this tat looks fine on its own. No need to amplify it in Photoshop.

Goodbye pavement.

Look out! The pavement is warping out of existence, and it’s coming for you next! Really though, beyond the obvious background warping, her legs don’t even look good as a result. They’re two entirely different sizes.

We’ve gone too far.

This almost makes me feel bad. If you’re really wearing calf pads of all things, you must be incredibly insecure. I promise you no one looks at or cares about your calves this much.

Not-so-miracle workout.

Using an over-edited version of a still from the video is a bold move, like people won’t immediately discover that you’re lying. Anything for clicks, I guess.

Even on Mother’s Day.

Yes, that’s her mom and yes, she edited her waist down in the second photo, because nothing is sacred anymore. Some people suggested in the comments that the mom was in on it too, and I can’t tell which version I hate more.

Prime Dorito bod.

In another 10 years his waist will have collapsed in on itself, creating a black hole, but his shoulders will be too wide to be pulled through.

Face transplants really have come a long way.

Like, I’m not the only one who thinks this looks like a totally different face, right? That’s a whole new person, and she has a chronic lying problem.

Family spotlight.

There’s something so underhanded about being in a family photo but only editing yourself. Not that editing other people would be good, but go big or go home, y’know?

Three shades darker.

I’m hoping this is just some iffy Photoshop work. Otherwise, he’d have to spray tan constantly to keep this tone on him. I hope someone broke it to him that it does not look flattering.

Masculinity at stake.

This is a lawyer in the original poster’s town, and apparently, in every photo he edits his hands to be way bigger than they are. Man’s starting to look like the Hulk, but instead he smashes legal troubles.

Tinder troubles.

Yes, this user found these images on Tinder. I don’t know how to tell this woman that looking like an uncanny human-robot won’t help her pull many dates.

From head to toe.

This user was actually warned by their hairstylist of unrealistic hair color expectations, thanks to how common Photoshop is in the hairstyling community, which is both unsurprising and yet still upsetting.

Her Instagram vs. her boyfriend’s.

Even ignoring the fact that she makes herself ghost white, I’m always confused by people who hyper-edit themselves but let their friends/partners post unedited photos. If you’re that concerned with your appearance, surely you’d want it to be consistent, right?

Too many steps.

So not only did they take her head and poorly paste it onto another body, they then took that body and pasted it onto the same red carpet! This feels like too much work for something you won’t even be able to support in the article.

Starting to fade away.

Looking at her chin makes my eyes go fuzzy. Or maybe it’s just her chin that’s fuzzy. So edited it starts blending into her neck.

Unattainable beauty standards.

It’s tough when you realize you’ll never look like your favorite Instagram models. I mean, I have armpits. I’ll never be able to to match these unrealistic standards.

Fraudulent work.

This is apparently the owner of a fillers clinic who edits all of her photos to the extreme. For someone advertising this kind of work, this is an awful look and makes the business extremely untrustworthy.

Close enough.

I didn’t realize Starbucks was such a trendy lifestyle brand that people would feel the need to Photoshop its logo on their coffee cup. I guess it looks more cosmopolitan than Dunkin’.
