Alex Trebek In New PSA About His Fight With Cancer: 'I Wish I Had Known Sooner'

Jeopardy host Alex Trebek shocked the world when he announced in March that he had been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, which is a form of cancer that has only a nine percent five year survival rate.

Alex has largely kept his spirits up about his diagnosis.

Alex has remained positive and continues to fight the disease alongside his attempts to help fans process his diagnosis and remain positive for him as well.

Alex just took part in a new PSA created for World Pancreatic Cancer Day.

In the PSA, Alex acknowledges the "absymal" survival rate of the disease and says he has joined 80 organizations in 30 different countries to raise awareness of the risks and symptoms.

Alex explains how awareness could have helped him.

“I wish I had known sooner that the persistent stomach pain I experienced before my diagnosis was a symptom of pancreatic cancer,” he says.

Alex then talks about creating more support for pancreatic cancer research. "Together, we can get it done."

Alex also explains that other symptoms of the disease are “mid-back pain, unexplained weight loss and the yellowing of the skin or eyes.”
