A 93-Year-Old Veteran Was Bored In Retirement, So He Opened A Boozy Cupcake Shop

My 81-year-old grandfather always says that he's still not sure what he wants to be when he grows up. He's the kind of guy who drove school buses full of screaming children when my grandparents first moved to Florida, just because he wanted to, later driving buses for Downtown Disney patrons.

I'm only in my late 20s, but I feel that too — who really knows what they want to be or do when they "grow up"? This next retired fellow seems to share the same sentiment.

Usually when we think of retirement, we think about people straight c h i l l i n g. Maybe going on a few vacations a year, taking up a hobby, or watching soap operas all afternoon (maybe just my mom).

That's not the case at all for New Jersey resident Ray Boutwell who decided to open a boozy cupcake shop this past summer.

Speaking with TODAY, Ray said he got the idea after reading about a trendy boozy cupcake joint in NYC.

After losing his wife and getting bored of his painting hobby, he said, "Why not?"

He decided to open his very own shop at the ripe age of 93.

Ray has always loved cooking, whether it be in his youth while at home with his mom or on the ship during his time in the Navy.

Baking isn't just a newfound passion, however. He was a professional baker from the age of 22 to 75.

That's pretty incredible!

Ray certainly shows us that there is plenty of time to decide what we want to be and do when we're older.

The world is our oyster, as they say.

As his daughter Rosana Mawson says of her father, "You're never too old to live your dream. You can do anything at any age."
