This Priest Performs Mass With Stray Dogs To Help Them Get Adopted

"They will always be able to enter, sleep, eat, drink their water and find shelter and protection, for this house is of God and they are of God," he wrote on Facebook.

And part of Father Gomes's mission involves finding the strays good, stable homes, and what better way to connect families with potential pooches than at Mass?

It's a chance for him to model love and compassion, and for his parishioners to get some pooch time in as well. Father Gomes also invites his flock to bring along any friends or extended family members who might be interested in bringing a new family member home with them, playing matchmaker for the strays.

As if they weren't going to be, right? But because these dogs have typically lived tough lives on the streets, underfed and under-loved, they're all the more in need of the kind of compassion that Father Gomes can attract.

He makes sure they get necessary medical care in addition to food, water, shelter, and affection, and he's even taken three into his own home.

"I helped several dogs with serious health problems," he told Bored Panda. "Some of them I brought to the parish house and they were later adopted. Three of them stayed with me. Today, they are my children and sleep in my bed."

And it's not work that he'll be stopping anytime soon, either. Why would he? Stray dogs and Father Gomes are a match made in heaven.
