Driver Miraculously Survives 'Final Destination' Crash With Logging Truck

A driver in Georgia can thank whatever gods of luck he acknowledges after escaping this horrific collision with a logging truck with only minor injuries.

Firefighters in Whitfield County, Georgia were left flabbergasted that the driver wasn't killed or seriously injured in the wreck.

The department posted images of the car, impaled with dozens of logs like something out of Final Destination, on their Facebook page, with a caption reading "Advanced Extrication on Cleveland Hwy this morning. Great job guys! Patient had only minor injuries."

So how the heck does anyone survive a collision like this?

Whitfield County Fire Chief Edward O'Brien told CNN that the driver just happened to drop something, and he leaned over to retrieve it at just the right time.

Had he been sitting upright, things would obviously have been much, much worse for the driver.

But, as he had leaned over, his head found a gap between the logs. "It was almost as if it was created just for his head," O'Brien said.

The firefighters on the scene had to practice their lumberjack skills.

They needed to cut through 30 to 40 logs before they could even open the car, O'Brien said, let alone getting the driver out. After that, it only took 10 to 15 minutes to get him free.
