Lady Gaga Had No Idea What Fortnite Was

Lady Gaga recently asked what "fortnight" was and Twitter is reacting exactly how you would expect them to — in utter disbelief and dismay — rightfully so.

Whether you consider yourself to be a gamer or not, you probably know what Fortnite is.

Fortnite is a free online game that took the world by storm in late 2017, and it's pretty much the only thing that people have been playing ever since.

The concept of the game is simple: Be the last man standing.

Variety

Essentially, the game rallies up a randomized selection of online users, drops them on a map that shrinks in size periodically — forcing the users closer and closer together.

It's then up to the players to gather enough weapons and materials to kill as many other players as they can, or lay low until they are the last survivor.

The creators of Fortnite, Epic Games, just relaunched a new and improved version of the game — including a new map, over the last few days.

So, naturally, the game has been booming even more than usual.

With all the chatter surrounding Fortnite this week, mega superstar, Lady Gaga finally got the memo.

She's about two and a half years too late, but okay.

Gaga's 79.7 million followers reacted just as any of us would expect them to.

What's even better than the fact that she's asking what one of the most popular video games of our time is, is that she misspelled the name of it.

I have a sneaking suspicion that she is trolling us all and we're falling for it.

But in the event that she's being totally serious and actually has no idea what Fortnite is, then the reactions she is receiving on Twitter are completely justified.

How does the Queen of pop not know about the most mainstream video game on the planet? Riddle me that!

Her whole shtick is pop-culture and yet, she seems to have been living under a rock...?

After seeing her tweet, fans knew that the number of replies she was going to subsequently receive were going to be overwhelming.

This gif basically sums it up.

BTW, her tweet has nearly 1 million likes. That has to be some kind of record for her.

And as you can probably imagine, the reactions have been nothing shy of truly hilarious.

Some people think that there is a deeper meaning behind her tweet that doesn't actually have anything to do with Fortnite.

It seems far-fetched, but definitely not impossible.

Come to think of it, by stirring up this much publicity, she probably is inadvertently marketing her upcoming album.

Is it possible that she literally meant "fortnight" as in, two weeks?

Some people are crowning this tweet as the greatest tweet of the year.

Any tweet that manages to attract this much attention is more than deserving of that title.

This is pretty much how I imagine Gaga at home, reading all these Twitter reactions, chortling at all the mayhem she has caused.

If this was her maniacal plan all along, I love her even more for it.

This fan hilariously suggested that Gaga accidentally typed this into Twitter instead of Google.

She could have gotten an answer to her question a whole lot faster if she had just typed it into Google instead.

Let us know what you think of Lady Gaga asking what "fortnight" is!

Do you think this was all apart of a larger scheme to market her upcoming album?

Is it possible that she genuinely didn't know what Fortnite was?
