Alec Baldwin Fell For A Common NYC Tourist Scam And New Yorkers Are Laughing

Despite being a Native New Yorker, Alec Baldwin just broke one of the city's cardinal rules: never fall for a scam!

Alec Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria, live in an $11.7 million New York penthouse.

Before that, the 30 Rock star lived in Central Park.

Just to make you a 'lil more jelly, the penthouse is totally one-of-a-kind.

According to the Pursuitist, the 4,137-square-foot home "spans the 12th and penthouse floors of the prewar condo conversion."

That's definitely more than enough room for the family.

Together, they have four kids!

Carmen, 6, Rafael, 4, Leonardo, 3, and Romeo, 16 months.

They even have a fifth one on the way.

The couple made the announcement back in September, along with the sad news that they had lost their previous baby.

With the exciting announcement, the couple will now be raising five "smart and savvy New Yorkers."

Ones that hopefully will never fall for the same scam that their parents hilariously did...

Despite their lengthy residency in NY, they still managed to get scammed by the oldest trick in the book.

The scam they fell for is one that seasoned New Yorkers know *never* to fall for.

It's that you should never purchase boat ride tickets to see the Statue of Liberty from a complete rando on the street.

The rule is to always purchase tickets from tourist attraction boxes.

The same goes for things like concert tickets.

Alec seemed to have forgotten about that rule when he purchased boat tickets from someone from the street.

The actor then took to Instagram to share his unique experience.

He began by saying that he and the fam headed to South Ferry.

"We buy the tickets for the 'boat tour' of the Statue of Liberty. We are escorted to a shuttle bus."

Here's where things took a turn: the shuttle bus took them to NEW JERSEY.

"Kid you not," Alec wrote. "We paid. Then we read the tickets. NO ON EVER MENTIONED NEW [expletive] JERSEY!!!

Despite the unexpected detour, the family eventually got to see the Statue of Liberty.

And, it was free!

See, that's another thing New Yorkers know: if you take the Staten Island Ferry, you get a great view of the Statue of Liberty!

Alec may have learned his lesson, but that didn't stop people from leaving hilarious comments on his post.

The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmit actress couldn't help but laughing (a lot) at the experience.

This person seemed to be [expletive] offended that Baldwin was so against his trip to Jersey!

Maybe the fam could have met the cast of Jersey Shore!

It's too bad that Alec's Comedy Central Roast has already filmed!

Can you imagine the jokes?!

Oh, well. At least Alec — and New Yorkers — got a funny story out of it!
