Wells Adams Reveals Proposal To Sarah Hyland Was Almost Ruined By The TSA

We all dream about the perfect proposal — what the ring will look like, who's going to pop the question, will it be in public, how will we announce it to the world? For some people, the urge to film the moment is incredibly strong, but the jig would be up if you brought a third person on the date with you who happened to be a photographer.

Wells Adams of 'Bachelor In Paradise' fame decided he was going to get around that by using a drone, but this plan almsot backfired and ruined the entire proposal.

Wells and his now-fiancée Sarah Hyland, best known for her role as Haley on Modern Family got engaged in July in Fiji, with Wells' drone catching the whole thing.

The whole plan was almost unravelled by airport security before they even got to the beach.

Speaking to Us Weekly, Wells said, "I hid [the engagement ring] in my drone case and then when I flew into Fiji — if you have a drone, and they see it in the X-ray, they inspect it."

Wells realized if they inspected his drone case, they'd find the ring.

“I was really scared that they were going to open the drone case and she was going to see the box that said LS and it was going to be over," he said, referring to jeweler Lorraine Schwartz.

Wells said when they went to inspect the case, he asked if they could go to a private room.

“Which I’m sure is, like, not what you’re supposed to say to somebody that’s about to check your stuff,” he joked, but it all turned out well.

“And when we got in there, I was like, ‘Hey, man, there’s an engagement ring in there, play it cool.'"

Luckily, airport security did indeed play it cool and didn't ruin the surprise for Sarah, although she must've been wondering why her boyfriend requested a private search.

Wells was still a bit worried.

"There was a moment where I was like, ‘Am I going to do this in the, like, Fijian Customs?’” He joked.

I'm sure it still would have been a lovely proposal! And at the least the airport security cameras would have also caught it.
