Trader Joe's Is Thinking Of Our Feline Friends With Advent Calendars For Cats

Christmas is all about the family, right? Giving your loves ones something cool and fun to show them you love them, getting to see the smiles it puts on their faces, it's a joyful time like no other.

And of course, that should include our furry family members, too.

Last year, Trader Joe's came out with a way to include our canine buddies in the festive season with an advent calendar just for dogs.

Each day for the 24 days leading up to Christmas, dog owners could open up a little window and pull out a salmon and sweet potato treat for their best friend, and apparently it was a big hit with owners and dogs alike.

Which was cool and adorable and all, but it also kind of left cat owners saying hey, what about us?

Folks, Trader Joe's was paying attention.

"Last year we came out with the dog advent calendar, which seemed pretty odd until we got out in the stores and there was quite a following for it," said Colin Fields, VP of merchandising, on the "Inside Trader Joe's" podcast. "And we heard from our feline-loving customers that we should have something for their cats. So we found it, we developed it, and it's pretty cool."

So, cat owners finally get some respect.

Their feline friends will get to snack down on salmon and seaweed treats, according to Fields. There's no word on when it will officially be on store shelves or how much it will cost, but the 2018 dog advent calendar cost a mere $6, so it shouldn't be too pricey.

With any luck, cat advent calendars will help keep a little peace around the home.
