Well, I guess winter is officially here, and besides hot chocolate, there are very few things I like about the season. I can’t say I’m a big fan of the cold and the snow.
If, like me, you also need a little extra help to get through the cold months ahead, check out these handy hacks . Don’t worry, summer will be back before you know it.
Attach a cheap stylus to your jacket’s zipper.

Trying to text with gloves on is basically impossible. With a stylus, you’ll always be able to use your phone and won’t have to worry about cold hands.
Install bubble wrap on your windows.

If you notice a draft or cold air getting in near your windows, put up some bubble wrap. It’ll insulate the windows and you can still get a decent amount of light.
Here’s a quick recipe for DIY de-icer.
Mix two parts vinegar and one part water in a spray bottle. The vinegar works as a natural de-icer and will make cleaning off your car much easier on those cold mornings.
Lean shoes against the wall to dry.

If you place your winter shoes like this to dry, you’ll find they’ll dry a lot faster. That’s because the bottoms will be able to dry as well and your shoes won’t be sitting in a puddle of water for hours.
DIY a cheap boot tray.

Pick up a paint tray from the dollar store for a cheap boot tray that you can use at the office. This is actually genius.
Here’s another DIY de-icer.
If you don’t have any vinegar, you can also make a de-icer formula from rubbing alcohol and water. Apparently, hand sanitizer can also help you open frozen car locks, too!
Use a Tupperware container as an ice scraper.

You might have seen ads for a round-shaped ice scraper. if you have a small Tupperware container, it works exactly the same way to quickly scrape ice off your car windows.
A smart soup solution.
If you make large batches of soup, freeze the portions in a muffin tin. Then you’ll be able to easily prepare single servings without worrying about waste.
Put socks on your wiper blades.

We know that you should leave your wiper blades up to minimize the build-up of snow on them, but trying putting socks on them as well.
The socks will stop and ice from forming when they’re in this position.
Use a shoe organizer for your accessories.

Does anyone else just dump their winter clothes in a huge pile near the door? No? Just me?
Well, if you need help organizing all those scarves, hats, and gloves, try using an over-the-door shoe organizer.
Winterize your shoes.

If you have a pair of shoes that you want to wear, but aren’t waterproof, try this helpful hack. Grab a small candle from the dollar store.
Rub the candle all over your shoes.

Make sure you have a thick layer of wax. Blast the wax with a hair dryer and your shoes will now be waterproof. Keep those feet dry and warm, thanks to this hack.
Wrap plastic bags around your car mirrors.

By wrapping your car’s mirrors in plastic bags, you’ll reduce (or even eliminate) the amount of ice and snow that can build up. I am going to start doing this from now on!
Use a small flowerpot to disperse salt.

Slippery walkways are a reality of winter, so many of us use salt or de-icer to make them safer. I never thought of using a flower pot to help dispense the salt.
Since the pot has a small hole in the bottom, the salt can slowly trickle out.

It’s a lot easier than trying to evenly spread the salt out yourself. Why didn’t I think of this sooner?
