The recent bill passed in Alabama that restricts women from having abortions under any circumstance, including rape and incest, with the only exception being “to avoid a serious health risk to the unborn child’s mother,” has celebs fuming .
To fight this new law, they are protesting via social media — sharing their stories and views on the matter.

Late on Tuesday evening, the Alabama senate passed a bill that only allows women that face serious health risks to terminate a pregnancy.
This means that if a young girl or woman is raped or is a victim of incest, and she becomes pregnant, she is by law unable to terminate the pregnancy.
Alabama is now a leader among several other states working to restrict abortion.
Georgia’s governor recently signed a similar bill known as the “fetal heartbeat bill” which restricts women from having an abortion if any heartbeat (besides her own) is detected.
This window of time makes it nearly impossible for a woman to terminate her pregnancy, as most women won’t discover they are pregnant until it is too late and due to health care delays.
There has been an overwhelming number of protesters fighting these recent turn of events, many of whom are celebrities.
Reese Witherspoon tweeted, calling this new controversial law a direct attack on women’s rights.
Lady Gaga.
Lady Gaga tweeted her outrage on Wednesday.
“It is an outrage to ban abortion in Alabama period,” she wrote. “And all the more heinous that it excludes those that have been raped or are experiencing incest non consensual or not.”
“This is a travesty and I pray for all these women and young girls who will suffer at the hands of this system,” she concluded.
Gaga also pointed out that doctors who perform abortion procedures will now face very serious criminal charges.
“So there’s a higher penalty for doctors who perform these operations than for most rapists? This is a travesty…,” she wrote.
Jameela Jamil.
“I had an abortion when I was young, and it was the best decision I have ever made. Both for me, and for the baby I didn’t want, and wasn’t ready for, emotionally, psychologically and financially. So many children will end up in foster homes. So many lives ruined. So very cruel,” she added.
Jordan Peele.
Jordan has pledged to donate the profits he makes off of his new HBO show ” Lovecraft Country ” to activist groups that are battling against the abortion measure .
Alyssa Milano.
Alyssa shared a tweet with a photo of the 22 senators that voted to have this law put into action, asking if anybody noticed the similarity between each senator.
“Not one uterus. NOT ONE UTERUS,” she wrote .
Janelle Monáe.
Janelle responded to a tweet explaining that in Alabama having an abortion after the very moment of conception is a felony, saying : “THIS IS REAL & is HAPPENING IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”.
Michelle Wolf.
“Do what the Alabama government refuses to do: help women by donating to the https://yellowhammerfund.org .
Donating is as easy as flicking an embryo out of a uterus should be,” Michelle tweeted .
Jane Lynch.
Jane responded to a tweet explaining that the goal of this law isn’t to protect every fertilized egg, but to take away women’s rights.
“THE GOAL IS TO CONTROL WOMEN,” she wrote .
Andy Cohen.
Andy tweeted, hoping that the Alabama state senate gets what’s coming to them.
“There is a cold place in hell for the Alabama Senate,” he wrote .
Sophia Bush.
“Health care is a human right. Reproductive health care is a human right. I stand against the latest attack on reproductive health care. Period. People deserve to hear ALL their options from their doctors, and those options should be kept between patients and doctors only,” Sophia wrote on Instagram .
