Teacher Applauded For Carrying 10-Year-Old With Spina Bifida For Whole Field Trip

Sometimes, we can make a big difference for people by doing something that seems simple enough for us. Indeed, it's entirely possible that you've been very influential in people's lives and outlook on the world without even realizing it.

Because as much as Thanos or M. Bison may make their rivals angrier by forgetting they even exist, there is some truth to their experiences. We can straight-up not remember meeting people only to end up discovering that it was one of the most important moments of their lives.

So when we see someone making a difference, it definitely helps to let them know about it. And enough people have done that for one Kentucky teacher that he's not likely to forget the impact of his kind actions.

10-year-old Ryan lives and attends school in Louisville, Kentucky.

She also has a condition called spina bifida that can take on many forms, but specifically leaves Ryan unable to walk.

Spina Bifida occurs when the spine doesn't form as it should at birth due to a defect in a "neural tube" that eventually develops into the brain and spinal cord.

According to the Mayo Clinic, whether the effects are barely noticeable or severe depends on what kind of defect we're talking about, its size, and where on the spine it developed.

But in Ryan's case, the condition can create some disappointing obstacles.

As her mother, Shelly, wrote on the "Team Ryan" Facebook page, it seems likely that Ryan would not be able to attend a class field trip to The Falls of Ohio because the natural region is not wheelchair accessible.

As Shelly said, "I was preparing for an 'alternate field trip day.'"

However, no such arrangements would need to be made thanks to a teacher named Jim Freeman.

As CNN reported, one of Shelly's friends had sent her a backpack that allows people to carry Ryan around and Freeman volunteered to use it for the day.

According to the Facebook post, he told Shelly, "I’m happy to tote her around on the falls all day!"

Shelly said this trip was particularly special for Ryan because it gave her a chance to be independent from her mom.

As Shelly said, "We are sooooo blessed to have an ENTIRE school that is so compassionate and empathetic and NEVER make her feel left out."
