The Night Stalker In 'American Horror Story: 1984' Is Real And The True Story Is Awful

Believe it or not, dear readers, but this story about a real-life murderer is going to be pretty disturbing.

So, remember, this story is not for the faint of heart.

Can we all agree that one of the most terrifying aspects of 'American Horror Story' is The Night Stalker?

FX

Whether we're talking 1984 or Hotel here, The Night Stalker (whether he be alive or a ghost) is going to haunt the dreams of AHS fans for a very long time.

Well folks, it doesn't get any better, because the Night Stalker actually existed.

Biography

Yes, the character is based on the story of Richard Ramirez, a serial killer from the '80s that used to rape and torture his victims.

He got his first victim... in 1984.

14 people were killed before they caught him.

And the way they caught him was actually pretty interesting.

They identified him through the finger and shoe prints he left on one crime scene. So, after publishing his photo in the papers, everyone knew what he looked like.

Then, when he tried to carjack a woman in 1985, a group of bystanders recognized him and beat the crap out of him.

He was then arrested and, after four years, was convicted in 1989.

He was sentenced to death, but was never executed and eventually died in prison in 2013 after a battle with lymphoma.

So you can rest easy knowing he's not around anymore... just watch out for his ghost.
