Aladdin is actually doing a lot better than people thought it would!
But of course, some classic die-hard Disney fans are annoyed with some of the differences between the original movie and the new one.
We’re diving into some of those differences!
There’s no fourth wall breaking at the start of the movie.

In the cartoon, the movie begins with a street trader telling the story of Aladdin.
No such thing happens in the live action remake.
Jasmine wants to be Sultan.

In the cartoon version, Jasmine wants to escape the castle altogether.
In the remake, she actually wants to be a ruler. They gave her the most feminist vibe! She even got out of trouble by a song instead of being seductive.
Will Smith raps his way out of the bottle.

Okay, not exactly, but he still raps a lot in the movie.
They clearly used Smith’s talents as much as possible.
Jasmine had a lot more to say this time.

Between her inner struggles, and having moments completely dedicated to her character growth, this Jasmine got a much larger role.
Aladdin has shoes!

In the cartoon, he was barefoot the entire time.
But in all fairness, that probably wouldn’t have translated well to film.
Jasmine got her own song called “Speechless.”

Considering our previous entry, it only makes sense that she would get her own song!
Jasmine is with Aladdin during “One Jump.”

In the cartoon, this is what Aladdin sings as he steals the bread from the market.
In the re-make, Jasmine is with him for that song.
Aladdin has to earn the trust of the Magic Carpet.

In the original cartoon, it’s the carpet that sneaks up on Aladdin!
But in the new film, Aladdin has to work for the carpet to be on his side.
Aladdin doesn’t steal any bread.

In fact, it is Jasmine who takes a loaf of bread to give to a child!
In the cartoon, she gave a child an apple.
Jafar doesn’t want to marry Jasmine.

Jafar is more interesting in the war in the live-action film. He wants to be Sultan so he could destroy the peace.
