Animal Activists Scream At Jennifer Lopez At 'Hustlers' Premiere For Wearing Fur

Jennifer Lopez has Oscars in her eyes.

She took her new film, Hustlers, to TIFF, where critics were quick to declare that an Oscar could be in her future for her role in the film.

The premiere, however, was interrupted by protesters who accused JLo of wearing fur in the film.

So, about "Hustlers."

It's actually a dramatization of the real-life scam two strippers pulled in the '90s.

JLo and Constance Wu head a cast of women who are down on their luck and out to manipulate rich bankers out of their money.

And the cast is stacked.

JLo. Constance Wu. Cardi B. Lizzo. Julia Stiles. Keke Palmer. Lili Reinhart.

You could not find a more culturally relevant cast if you tried. And yes, I am the most excited about Lizzo, how could you tell?

She's one of the executive producers of the film, so everything from the production to the actual cast of the film falls on her shoulders.

Hustlers had a red-carpet premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, where critics got their first look at the film.

Protesters followed.

As JLo walked the red carpet for the film, animal activists lined the barricades and yelled at her.

"Shame on Jennifer Lopez!" They yelled, over and over. "Shame on Jennifer Lopez for wearing fur!"

The chanting continued.

"Stop wearing fox fur!" They screamed. "Stop wearing fox fur, Jennifer Lopez!"

Many people in the crowd were screaming at her. At one point, she looked over at the protestors, but seemed unfazed.

Some had signs.

One of them read, "JLO HATES ANIMALS," in black. It looked like it was written on some sort of fabric.

The person holding it screamed, "Shame on Jennifer Lopez! Shame on you! You have blood on your hands!"

One threw theirs onto the red carpet.

The sign, which read "JLO STOP WEARING REAL FUR," was thrown onto the red carpet.

One of the people assigned to the carpet picked it up immediately. It looked like she had other signs in her hand, too.

One of the activists must have had a megaphone.

As they left the premiere, they yelled more protests through it at the waiting crowd.

"Don't idolize Jennifer Lopez! She's killed thousands of animals for fur coats!"

Okay, "thousands" might be pushing it, but I hear them.

So, does JLo really wear that much fur in "Hustlers"?

To put it plainly: yeah, she does.

Some of the most iconic shots from the trailer feature JLo in a huge fur coat, planning and scheming alongside Constance Wu at the strip club.

In fact, there's fur all over the trailer.

It's not just JLo that wears it. In one shot, Keke Palmer's character pulls out a cheetah-print Christian Louboutin boot.

Given the boot's texture, it's clearly made of animal hair. A quick google search confirms that it's likely either pony or calf hair.

Almost everyone has fur on at some point.

Whether it's this fur coat, or even Constance Wu's feather earrings, it's easy to see why fur and feathers are used in the film: it denotes the success of the women.

In fact...

One shot seems to confirm this.

In a scene from the trailer where JLo and Constance Wu hug after presumably moving into a new place, you can clearly see a box labelled "furs."

Some film critics even pointed out the furs.

In Refinery 29's interview with JLo, they point out a scene in the film where JLo's character wraps Constance Wu's up in her fur coat.

JLo said that scene mirrored real life: "The minute I saw Constance, I put my arms out and took her under my wing and put her in my coat like, 'I got you.'"

What does this mean?

Nothing...yet. The activists have been making worldwide news with their protest against JLo.

JLo, for her part, remained silent on the matter. She posted a number of pictures from the red carpet on her Instagram, but didn't mention the activists at all.

There is one thing to remember, however...

We don't actually know if real fur was used in the movie.

Judging by the use of the Louboutins, at least one real piece was used. As for the rest? We just don't know.
