Pierce Brosnan Says It's Time For A Female James Bond: 'Get Out Of The Way, Guys'

Bond. James Bond.

Perhaps the most iconic cinematic character ever, James Bond has gone through many iterations since the first time he graced our screens as legendary actor Sean Connery. We've had rugged Bonds, sleek Bonds, blond Bonds, Irish Bonds, and even talk of a black Bond if the rumors of Idris Elba taking on the part are true, but there's one boundary that hasn't been crossed.

There hasn't been a female James Bond.

There are rumors that in the next Bond film, No Time To Die, the torch of the iconic character will be passed onto Lashana Lynch, who is not only a woman, but a black woman.

When asked about this rumor, Pierce Brosnan was immediately in favor.

"Yes!" Pierce said enthusiastically about the subject to The Hollywood Reporter. "I think we've watched the guys do it for the last 40 years."

"Get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there," he continued.

"I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting,” he added. Brosnan was also asked if he felt Bond would have to change with the times in a post-#MeToo era, and his answer was confident.

“Without question, yes," Brosnan answered.

"The #MeToo movement has been relevant and significant and well needed in our society, so they'll have to address that,” he said.

Not everyone is pleased with Brosnan's enthusiasm.

Controversial British figure Piers Morgan said his campaign to "save James Bond" started now. He said, "“They are not changing James Bond to a damn woman on my watch. He was the last sort of, slightly caveman guy, who would throw a woman over his shoulder, ravish her ‘til dawn. And we can’t have any of that, women don’t want sex anymore.”
