Elle Fanning Carries Chicken Bones On The Red Carpet Because Of Her Strange Superstition

Elle Fanning is having a serious golden moment right now.

She's been named one of Vanity Fair's best dressed for 2019, she's wrapped filming on three different projects (including a sequel to Maleficent), and she's a darling of the fashion world.

So, what's with the chicken bones? Let's find out.

Elle got started early.

New Line Cinema

She got her start in Hollywood on the heels of her sister, Dakota Fanning.

She played Dakota's younger self in I Am Sam at the age of three. She was so tiny!

Her star rose quickly.

She and Dakota worked together frequently, often playing siblings.

However, Elle landed her first independent role in Daddy Day Care. After that, she went from strength to strength—all while under the age of 10.

Disney beckoned in her teens.

She was picture-perfect for the role of Aurora, aka Sleeping Beauty, in Disney's live-action _ Maleficent_.

She starred alongside Angelina Jolie. The film was so successful that it begged for a sequel, which is due to drop in October 2019.

She broke records in 2019.

She was appointed as a jury member of the international competition to the 72nd annual Cannes International Film Festival.

She was the youngest ever juror to ever be appointed to the festival.

She also rocked the Met Gala.

The theme of 2019 was Camp: Notes on Fashion, which she leaned into full-tilt.

Her acrylic necklace featured a number of pop culture pieces, as well as the literal words "camp" and "the Met."

Let's just take a moment for those nails, too.

Yup, she has charms hanging from her nails. There's a tube of toothpaste, an orange, french fries, a rotary telephone, a beer can, and more.

Imagine trying to get dressed with those nails on. Just imagine.

And she landed on Vanity Fair's Best Dressed list.

It's here that our story truly starts: the best-dressed list.

She was featured alongside the likes of Celine Dion, Gabrielle Union, Dwayne Wade, Zendaya, and Keanu Reeves.

I know. I also wasn't expecting Keanu, but a surprise Keanu is always a welcome Keanu.

For her interview, she chatted about her favorite fashion moments.

For instance, her absolute favorite look was one she wore to her 21st birthday.

She sported a diamond-patterned prom dress from the 80s that she found in a vintage store. You know I had to hunt down a picture of that dress! It's gorgeous.

She also revealed her style icon.

Giphy

Samantha Stephens from Bewitched is her style inspiration, which makes perfect sense.

Not only do they look a lot alike, it's clear that Elle draws inspiration from the '60s/'70s blend of prints and clean, solid lines that made up Samantha's wardrobe.

She also has a little magic of her own.

When asked what her good luck charm is, she said, "For years I kept chicken wishbones in my purse."

Hey, that superstition clearly worked for her. Look how strong her career is right now!

She wasn't joking, either.

Elle has legit posted about Bewitched on her Instagram a number of times.

We love a girl who knows exactly how to stan her faves in style. I'm gonna start dressing up like Winifred Sanderson from Hocus Pocus.

It's clear that luck and magic play heavily into her life.

I mean, an actual Disney princess has to have a little bit of magic in her, right?

Maybe she keeps chicken bones in her trailer while she plays Princess Aurora, too!

She expanded on more of her style secrets to Vanity Fair.

For example, there's two things she adores so much that she'd want to be buried in:

"Pink! A flower headdress would be nice."

Those two things appear a lot on her Instagram, so tbh that checks out.

She also has a secret fashion weapon.

Her most treasured possession is a plaid jacket from London’s Brick Lane market.

She said it "[...] magically turns every outfit into a winner."

I couldn't find any trace of that jacket, so please enjoy this picture of her standing on a chair to get a picture of her full outfit instead.

If you can't get enough of Elle's magic...

There's so much coming for her in the next few months!

Maleficent is out in October 2019, and Elle just recorded 5 audiobooks of The Babysitter's Club for Audible! Brb while I grab my headphones.
