'American Idol' Contestant Haley Smith Dies In Motorcycle Accident At Age 26

American Idol contestant Haley Smith has passed away in a motorcycle accident in Maine, as confirmed by ET. The singer was involved in a one-vehicle accident on Medway Road in Millinocket.

Haley auditioned for 'American Idol' in it's 11th season.

While Haley did not make it past the second Hollywood round, the judges were impressed with her soulful audition performance of 'Tell Me Something Good.'

Steven Tyler in particular noted her talent.

Tyler told Haley that "I love your voice so much. You're right out of my era." He also added that he was "honored" to be listening to her perform.

On August 31st of this year, Haley was involved in a motorcycle crash.

The police statement read, "It would appear initially that she failed to negotiate a sharp turn and crashed," although her family told TMZ that they believe a deer might've been involved in the accident.

Haley's father said that she was a good rider and doubted she just lost control of the bike.

Haley was 26 years old, and her family told TMZ they were preparing to celebrate her birthday in November. You can watch her American Idol audition here.
