The True Story Behind 'Peaky Blinders' Is As Wild As The Show: "They Were Like Dogs Fighting"

Oh boy! A combination of two of my favorite things: history and pop culture.

Sure, the show is based on a historical event so it's already that, but now I get to talk about both.

'Peaky Blinders'.

Heart pounding action, slow, tense drama and finally: some brutality.

That's how you do a show that's going to keep people watching for five seasons and possibly a movie in the future.

But did you know that the show is based on a real-life gang?

That's right, the show is based on the actions of the actual Birmingham gang, and let's just say the show is pretty accurate.

They were just a street gang, so they didn't exactly have Tommy's political aspirations.

However, their violent acts committed went a lot farther than those on the show, which is saying a lot.

They would attack police, and when they had skirmishes with rival gangs, that's when things got really ugly.

The creator of the show said this about the fights:

"They didn't care about each other's eyes, ears, throats. They were like dogs fighting."
