It's rare that anything surprises me these days, to be honest. When you spend as much time as I do totally consumed in the world of celebrity gossip, you can almost see into the future. However, there is no universe I ever say THIS headline. I had no idea that Sir Anthony Hopkins and Martha dated, let alone that she broke up with this iconic Hollywood actor.

I think she is the ultimate embodiment of a domestic goddess with a best friend energy. Like, she would tell me how to properly clean my kitchen floors while handing me a glass of wine and dishing about the celebrity guests she worked with on her show with Snoop Dog.
Do you know who else I love and adore? Sir Anthony Hopkins.
To be fair, everyone loves Mr. Hopkins — I'm hardly the first to express my adoration of him.
However, I had no idea that Martha Stewart also had a certain affinity for the actor.
As far as timelines go, I've put my best women on the job and we've come to the following conclusion.
Sir Anthony has been married to his third wife, Stella Arroyave, since 2003, so it's safe to say this relationship was sometime before then.
As for Martha, the domestic goddess has been divorced from hubby Andrew Stewart since 1990, thus leaving an approximate 13 year gap of time this could have happened.
Considering Martha goes on to mention Anthony's role in Silence of the Lambs it's also safe to deduced they dated after the 1991 film came out.
So there you have it, now it's only a twelve year gap!
These two are lucky they dated before smartphones and Instagram — had they been dating today, we all would have known about it almost instantly!
While chatting on "The Ellen Show" the 80-year-old dropped not one but TWO bombshells.
During a game of "Two Truths and a Lie", the TV host offered as one of the potential lies: "I dated Sir Anthony Hopkins but broke up with him because I couldn't stop thinking of him as Hannibal Lecter."
As it turns out, that was one of the two truths!
"I have a big, scary house in Maine that's way by itself on a hundred acres in a forest and I couldn't even imagine taking Anthony Hopkins there."
As for why she couldn't, let's just say Martha couldn't get a certain image out of her head...
"I couldn't because all I could think of was him eating, you know …" she recalled as she alluded to Anthony's cannibalistic character in Silence of the Lambs.
Martha admitted to going out for a few dinner dates with the actor, but insists that "a girl should never kiss and tell.”
Sorry Martha, but I disagree. I think when it comes to the most under wraps Hollywood relationship of all time, we want to know everything!
As you can imagine, the internet was rocked by the three decade old secret! As I mentioned earlier, it's hard to be surprised by Hollywood these days!
People just cannot believe these Hollywood heavy hitters were once a pair.
However, I can't say I totally blame Martha for her decision, it would be so difficult to go to any remote house with a man who played such a vile character SO brilliantly.
Maybe 2022 will bring a reunion for these two!
