Amazon Workers In Tears After Mass Layoff Due To Boss Relocating

Getting laid off from a job is never easy, especially when you've been in that position for some time and rely on it to get by, living paycheck to paycheck. It's often sudden, and can leave one scrambling to find a new job, fast.

What's even worse is when that happens to a whole fleet of people. At one Amazon DSP, this is exactly what happened, with the entire team being fired in the wake of their boss deciding to move.

A sad sight was captured outside an Amazon warehouse earlier this month.

A TikTok video uploaded by user @kingmade_nuke22, which has now gained almost 5 million views, shows a crowd of Amazon delivery drivers standing in a parking lot.

The first shot is of a woman openly crying and a male coworker coming over to comfort her.

The on-screen text reveals why she's so upset.

"Her boss laid everybody off because [they're] moving to a new state," it reads, remaining on the screen as the camera pans across a rather somber crowd. It's mostly silent, and other pairs of employees can be seen hugging and providing solace to one another.

The video's caption provides some more insight.

"I’ve been at Amazon for 2 years," he starts, "[...] the owner of the company decided to shut our job down and open up a DSP in another state! He decided to tell us today with no warning we have 2 weeks left Which means everybody is out a job people out here crying [...]."

The last part of the video shows everyone being addressed by, presumably, a supervisor of some sort.

He informs everyone of what the caption describes, that their boss is moving to Arizona to be closer to family and is choosing to open a DSP there, leaving everyone here out of work.

A DSP is a third-party service in which people partner with Amazon to run their own Amazon delivery service, hiring all of their own drivers to pick up packages at Amazon warehouses and then make the deliveries.

The comments were filled with sympathy for those let go.

Some even expressed how they'd been through something similar, with one comment writing, "Yeah that’s seriously messed up! Happened to me and a few others at some other job I used to have with no warning. Not right at all."

Others chose more simple sentiments, like one user who said, "I’m so sorry that happened to all of you guys [like] that."

Others chose to voice frustrations instead.

Like one commenter, who wrote, "These big corporations could care less about their employees. You are just a number to them. They have no loyalty to you, but expect you to be loyal."

This sentiment was shared by quite a few, as many grow more and more fed up with how much jobs demand from them with nothing in return.
