Kelly Ripa Backs Cher's Opinion And Will Never 'Cave In' And Let Her Hair Go Grey

There are some fashion rebels in Hollywood!

While many celebs have been embracing their gray hair during the pandemic, there are a few outliers in Cher and Kelly Ripa.

After Cher stated that she will never let her long, dark hair go gray, Kelly Ripa piggybacked this by stating she's #TeamCher and #TeamAntiGray!

Come learn why here!

It's no secret that Cher hates aging.

When asked how she feels about getting older in a 2020 interview with The Guardian, the 75-year-old admitted that she "hates" it.

"What, I'm going to say I like it? No, I don't. Any woman who is honest will say it's not as much fun," Cher said.

It's affected how she tours since she's not able to keep up like she used to.

"When I was working on the road we used to work two shows a night and then go out dancing all night long," but these days, "It's like we've got to rest because you've got another night."

Aging has also impacted her thoughts on beauty.

Unlike other celebs who embraced their gray during the pandemic, the pop icon recently proclaimed her beauty vow to never let her dark tresses go gray.

"[Going gray] is fine for other girls," she told People. "I'm just not doing it!"

Cher's bold words impacted many women, like Kelly Ripa.

At the start of the pandemic, the Live With Kelly and Ryan talk show host actually seemed to be embracing her grays.

Unable to get to the salon for a touch-up, she kept fans entertained with her "root watch" on Instagram.

"#rootwatch week 8," she shared on Instagram in 2020.

Ripa's husband, Mark Consuelos, actually liked the gray. He said the sweetest thing about it.

"I think it looks beautiful; I like it. I’m looking forward to when it’s just completely gray.”

During that time, she also spoke on-air about how the texture of her hair changed from letting grays come in.

"Gray hair has a different texture. Anyone with gray hair can tell you, it's very wired. It tends to stand up," she said.

She then shared the ways she learned to manage her new texture.

"These little clips, and you can see I've sprayed them brown too, these little clips really, like, hold the gray."

When a confused Ryan Seacrest said that it looked "blonde" to him, Ripa joked, "That's good. That's excellent. It's all part of my sinister plan to fool you."

But that's all changed ever since Cher made her hair confession.

On Friday's episode, of Live with Kelly and Ryan, she admitted that, like Cher, she plans on never letting her grey hair show.

“During the early days of the pandemic, I had embraced my grey hair privately," she said.

"While publicly I was using brown eyeshadow to paint my roots some shade that wasn’t Santa Clause white,” Ripa told co-host Ryan Seacrest.

“But in real life, I go, ‘Oh, I look great with grey hair, you can barely tell,'” she joked while shaking her head "no."

These days, Ripa is sticking with her signature blonde locks.

"Cher was saying that gray hair is not for her. She is not caving in, she doesn't care about the trend — you know, people are embracing their gray hair all over the place. Everybody's embracing their gray hair," Ripa explained.

"I need to dye my hair," she added.

She then encouraged other women to embrace their natural hair color if they wish.

"I think certain people look great with their gray hair," Ripa continued. "I think it depends on the person. I really do."
