So, I Just Found Out Sleeping On The Floor Has Tons Of Benefits

A good night's sleep is one code many of us have yet to crack.

We shell out money on the latest sleep gadgets to help in our quests, such as weighted blankets, humidifiers, and lavender eye masks.

But what if the real solution is already something you own? Like, say, the floor? After reading through these benefits, you'll discover that the floor is so much more than something to be walked on.

1. It relieves back pain

While the thought of curling up in a soft bed sounds nice in theory, it doesn't do much good for our backs.

It's been found that soft mattresses contribute to back pain by causing your spine to sink deeply into the mattress.

A whole host of sleep problems can spring from this poor sleep posture.

Your sciatic nerve may get pinched, which leads to much discomfort and pain throughout the day. The curve of your spine sinking into the bed can also contribute to back pain.

While research has found that medium-firm mattresses provide the most relief from back pain, they're still softer than the floor.

By choosing to sleep on the floor, you're able to remain in proper alignment all throughout the night.

It's in your best interest to keep your spine happy!

2. It improves posture

Your posture is one of the most important things to keep in check. If not, you're more likely to experience back pain, flexibility issues, and an increased risk of injury.

Sleeping on the floor keeps your posture straight since you don't have to worry about your spine curving into a soft mattress.

3. It's colder

Since heat rises, the floor stays cool throughout the night. This makes it ideal for those who prefer a cooler climate. A cooler environment is ideal during those sticky hot summer nights.

Just try to avoid this during the winter since the cold floor can rapidly reduce your body heat.

It's a daily struggle to get up on time when you're surrounded by the cozy atmosphere of your bed. The floor, on the other hand, doesn't offer such comforts.

This makes it a lot easier to get up on time, which results in you feeling more rested throughout the day.

Good blood circulation is extremely important to have. It provides oxygen to your body's vital organs, such as your heart and lungs.

This will also keep your immune system healthy, so you can better ward off sickness.

By evenly distributing your weight! Since your weight is evenly distributed on the floor, it allows your blood to circulate freely throughout the body during the night. This also puts less stress on your hips, shoulders, and lumbar spine.

By now, you know that the position of your body as you sleep matters and that sleeping on the floor keeps your spine happy.

This is good news for back and side sleepers, as you're less likely to contort the body into weird positions if you sleep on the floor.

There are some disadvantages to sleeping on the floor, though.

Allergies is a big one.

Since the floor has significantly more dust, dirt, mold, and skin cells than other areas in your home, it's not ideal for those with allergies or respiratory issues. You'll want to sleep in a bed instead.

Sleeping on the floor could also actually contribute to your back pain.

Some people may feel stiffness and discomfort if their hips and shoulders aren't cushioned while they sleep.

Even so, it's clear to see that there are more benefits to sleeping on the floor than not! That's definitely something to think about as you count sheep in bed.
