'James Bond' Producer Barbara Broccoli Confirms The Next 007 Will Be A British Man

Now that Daniel Craig is getting ready to pass the torch — er, martini — to another James Bond, speculation has been at an all-time high. While everyone thinks they know who the best option is, I'm here to say the only option should be Idris Elba, but sadly, he has confirmed he isn't going to be the next 007.

However, what we do know is the next James Bond will be a British man.

Without a doubt, Daniel Craig has been a fan favorite James Bond.

"I didn't think that I was going to do another movie after Spectre," he told Reuters a few months back.

" I genuinely thought that I was going to ... just pack it in."

"But I'm so happy that I got the chance to come and do this one," he said of his last film, "No Time to Die."

"And we tied up lots of loose ends. We've tried to tell one story with all my Bond movies. It's like they're all connected in some way and this one just sort of capped it off."

However, a lot of Daniel's thunder got stolen by the speculation that the next James Bond would be a woman.

A lot of people had a lot of very strong opinions about this rumour — because that's all it was, a rumour.

When asked by Radio Times what he thinks about the next 007 being a woman, the "James Bond" actor gave a sublime response.

"The answer to that is very simple. There should simply be better parts for women and actors of color," the 53-year-old replied.

"Why should a woman play James Bond when there should be a part just as good as James Bond, but for a woman?" he continued.

Now, longtime James Bond Producer Barbara Broccoli is weighing in on the speculation.

Speaking with "The Hollywood Reporter" Barbara explained that while they're uncertain who the next 007 will be, they're certain on two things — he will be British, and he will be a man.

"I think it will be a man because I don't think a woman should play James Bond," she said.

"I believe in making characters for women and not just having women play men's roles," she continued.

"I don't think there are enough great roles for women, and it's very important to me that we make movies for women about women."

When it comes to the important discussions of race and representation, as long as the actor is British, Barbara is open to every possibility.

"He should be British, so British can be any [ethnicity or race]."

"People always ask, 'Oh, who's the next James Bond?' It's like asking a bride as she's going up to the altar who's her next husband going to be," she told the publication.

"I don't really want to think about who is going to be the next person until I absolutely have to."

For now, the producer just wants to let Daniel Craig enjoy his spotlight for one last time.

"I want to let this film play and really celebrate Daniel's incredible achievement that he has done over 16 years," she said.

I can't help but agree — No Time to Die was my favorite Bond film ever and I'll miss Daniel Craig so much!
