Tesla Announces $1,900 'Cyberquad' Mini-ATV For Kids

Tesla isn't a company to play things safe, and their latest announcement is right in line with this philosophy.

They're releasing a 'Cyberquad for Kids' all-terrain vehicle, a futuristic, angular ATV that comes in at a relatively affordable $1,900. The only catch? It might be tough to get your hands on one.

Tesla, Inc focuses on electric vehicles.

Since its founding as Tesla Motors in 2003, Elon Musk's company has aggressively pushed vehicles that use clean energy to the market.

As the company has grown in stature, its designs have grown more and more distinctive.

Remember the Cybertruck?

It hasn't hit the roads yet (It's scheduled to begin production in 2022.), but the Cybertruck attracted headlines with its bold, futuristic, sheet metal-looking design. It was a clear sign that Tesla was feeling confident.

Tesla's releasing something for the kids.

If you visit its page on Tesla's website, you'll be greeted with a big 'OUT OF STOCK' banner. Clearly, the kid-sized ATV will be a big holiday item for kids whose parents are at the bleeding edge of technology.

What's it look like?

Following the design of the infamous Cybertruck, the Cyberquad for Kids looks like it's the younger sibling of the truck. It has the same futuristic, angular designs along with a sparse, industrial look to its various surfaces.

Is it really all that?

Before we get caught up on the Tesla hype train, let's look at the specs: four wheels, steel frame, cushioned seats, lights, battery-powered, 15 miles of range and a top speed of 10 miles per hour.

It seems fine, but this is in line with many electric ATVs that are already on the market.

The hype is here regardless.

The Cyberquad for Kids was sold out almost immediately after it was announced, and will likely remain a hot item for some time. It'll be interesting to see if the unique Cybertruck aesthetic catches on.

Is there another big reveal?

As this tweet points out, Tesla appears to have soft-launched a larger, adult-sized Cyberquad along with the kids' version. It appears to be, well, approximately the same thing as the smaller one, just bigger.

Will it be the next big thing for kids?

At $1,900, it's an expensive present this holiday season. And while it can go off-road better than those little electric kids' cars of years past, it's far more expensive and has a look that may be an acquired taste for some.

Time will tell.

Tesla loves to make big announcements with the aim of going viral, and generally, they succeed. At first blush, the Cyberquad for Kids seems fairly uninspiring specs-wise, but it does come with the cool factor of any Tesla product.
