Sweet Landlord Goes Viral After Taking $200 Off Rent In The Spirit Of The Holidays

I feel like I would really struggle as a landlord. I would feel so deeply uncomfortable accepting payments from people. Sure, it's a really good way to make money and sure, people would expect me to collect rent every month, but that doesn't mean I would like it!

I would just want everyone to stay at my place rent-free like one big long, never-ending sleepover but alas, that's not how the world works!

At the beginning of the pandemic, we saw a lot of landlords being generous with their tenants.

Given it was such unprecedented times and practically everyone seemed to be laid off, it was a lovely gesture and one that surely saved a lot of people from ending up on the streets.

However, in the months that followed, that sense of community was soon lost.

Look, I get it — at the end of the day it's a business, and these landlords have bills to pay and money to make. They can't just be giving out free rent all the time.

Thankfully, there are still small gestures that can be done to ease a bit of the load.

One woman shared how her landlord made her spirits bright by sending her a text letting her know that she was taking $200 off their rent payment.

The text, shared on Twitter by @baycheyann, reads: "We want to reduce rent by 200$[*sic*] this month to help prep for the holidays."

"Spoil those babies, buy a few extra sides for Thanksgiving or just reduce some financial stress. We know it's not much but wanted to show some appreciation to the both of you!!!"

"Blessings your way this Holiday season," the message concludes.

People on Twitter couldn't believe the generosity. I think we all know the feeling of having to pinch pennies, especially around this time of year.

What a thoughtful, wonderful gesture!
