Every now and then, we'll hear a story about a parent or teacher getting in hot water for fundamentally misunderstanding periods.
And in addition to expressing sympathy for the young girls who were failed by these people, the most common reaction from commenters is confusion as to how these adults made it so far in life without ever learning how periods work.
But as similar stories can tell us, there is not only no shortage of people who stigmatize periods, but also parents who seem to view educating kids about them as inappropriate.
Although this wilful ignorance goes a long way to explain how these bizarre attitudes towards periods exist, it doesn't make stories like the one we're about to go over any less frustrating.
