Mariska Hargitay Pays Tribute To Late Mother Jayne Mansfield During Latest Appearance

There is something so special about a celebrity wearing a meaningful red carpet outfit. Maybe I'm just a sucker for nostalgia, or maybe I just cry all the time, but nothing warms my heart like seeing Jamie Lee Curtis pay homage to her mom, or Kate Middleton giving a subtle tribute to Princess Diana.

Now, actress Mariska Hargitay is joining the ranks of celebs on the red carpet who are trying to make me cry.

Mariska Hargitay is nothing short of a television icon.

Known best for her role as the beloved Oliva Benson on Law & Order: SVU, Mariska has become a household name to fans of good TV.

However, what many people may not realize is that Mariska's mom was also a household name.

Mariska's mom, actress Jayne Mansfield, was an American actress and sex symbol in the 50s and 60s.

One of the earliest Playboy playmates, Jayne was known best for her roles in classic Hollywood films like The Girl Can't Help It and Too Hot to Handle.

In addition to being known for being a blonde bombshell, Jayne was also known for her affinity for the color pink.

In addition to often wearing the rosy hue, Jayne lived in a "pink palace" that had 25 rooms and a custom-built heart-shaped swimming pool made by Jane's second husband, Mickey Hargitay. Naturally, the entire home was also filled with fabulous pink decor, as per Architectural Digest.

Tragically, Jayne died in a car accident in 1967 when her daughter Mariska was just three-years-old.

Now, the actress is honoring her late mother while rocking her signature color on the Glamour magazine's Women of the Year red carpet.

"The pink does have great significance because I'm bringing my mother with me tonight, and she's here," Mariska revealed in Glamour's Instagram story.

"She was one of the most glamorous women in the world, and I just hope that I can do her justice."

In her acceptance speech, Mariska explained the true meaning of her mother's glamor.

"We have many pictures of her in our house, and my God, she is just so unbelievably glamorous," she gushed, as per "Today."

"But I think that her glamour, her real glamour, the glamour of her luminous, tender, searching heart, was deeper and more beautiful than she ever knew."

What a beautiful way to honor her beautiful mother!
