Chris Pratt Went To Bed 'Depressed' After Backlash For 'Gross' Post About His Family

Last week, actor Chris Pratt faced intense scrutiny online after making a controversial post dedicated to his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger and their baby girl, Lyla Maria Pratt. Many fans felt the post was a dig at the 42-year-old's ex-wife Anna Faris and their son Jack.

Now, Chris is revealing that he felt down after receiving the criticism, and shared with his fans how he dealt with the sadness.

As you may recall, Chris Pratt was married to fellow actress Anna Faris from 2009 to 2018.

Fans were in disbelief when this funny pair called it quits after nearly a decade married and one son together, Jack Pratt.

The pair's son Jack was born premature and had to undergo several operations as a result.

At birth, Jack weighed just 3 pounds, 12 ounces. Today, Jack is nine and healthy, however, he currently has visual impairments as well as a non-life-threatening heart problem.

Last week, Chris got called out for what fans believed to be a dig at his ex-wife after praising his "healthy daughter" birthed by new wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger.

As fans will recall, Katherine and Chris welcomed daughter Lyla Maria Pratt in August 2020.

Posting in praise of Katherine for seemingly no reason, Chris shared his sentiments in the caption of a picture of the pair. "Guys. For real. Look how she’s looking at me! I mean. Find you somebody that looks at you like that!! You know!?" he began.

"We met in church. She’s given me an amazing life, a gorgeous healthy daughter, she chews so loudly that sometimes i put in my ear buds to drown it out, but that’s love!"

"She helps me with everything," he gushed. "In return, periodically, I open a jar of pickles. That’s the trade."

"Her heart is pure and it belongs to me. My greatest treasure right next to my Ken Griffey Jr Upper Deck Rookie card. Which if you know, you know is saying a lot."

He concluded: "It’s her birthday in about 6 weeks. So if I don’t get her anything, I’ll tell her to look back on this post. Love you honey."

While some followers thought the post was sweet, a lot of others took big issues with it.

"Where does your other child fall in line after the baseball card?" asked one user.

"I really don’t think this is as great of a post as you think it is," wrote another.

'The least Christian post ever,' echoed another.

"The whole paragraph was all about what she has done for him," wrote one critic.

"Really nothing about her as a person... 'She's creative, intelligent, the best sense of humor... Etc' It's all 'she gives me, she helps me, she's all mine... And THAT'S why I love her!'" they added.

It's clear people were very angry about him highlighting the pair's "healthy daughter" in the caption.

Chris recently broke his silence about the controversy, kinda.

Posting to his Instagram stories, the actor shared that he went to bed feeling "upset and depressed" Thursday night.

"I knew that if I put on my Christian music playlist and I got out in the woods and ran, that I’d feel better. But I just didn’t want to," Chris told his followers.

"Gosh was I right! It felt amazing!" the 42-year-old said. "God sat there right next to me."

"Get some exercise, maybe listen to some good worship music and or maybe get the word in because it really helped me this morning," he added.

The lack of acknowledgement about his son has further fuelled fans outrage.

The actor has made no further comments regarding the backlash.
