Birthdays are the perfect time to start fresh. Hit the reset button. Look into the new year with optimism and an opportunity to work on yourself. No matter how old you are, there is always room for imprivement.

Now, on her 37th birthday, Kelly Osbourne is announcing to fans that she is welcoming this upcoming year with her best foot forward as she announces she's been sober for five months.

Fans of the former reality star will remember her past with substance abuse.

In 2009, the then 25-year-old attended Oregon's Hazelden Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Center due to her dependence on prescription drugs.

She continued: "It sets you up to hate yourself in a huge way. I was so angry about the things people said about me."

"I truly believe it's the main reason I turned to Vicodin and ended up in rehab three times. I just hated myself."

After she got drug-free, Kelly told Shape that she "replaced the drugs with food and just got fatter and fatter. I'm an emotional eater. When I get upset, my diet goes out the window."

Last year, Kelly told fans she lost 85-pounds by adopting a healthier lifestyle.

Now, the TV host is opening up to fans about her sobriety journey in honor of her 37th birthday.

Posting a selfie with a birthday cake, Kelly shared the exciting news.

Speaking with "Shape" back in 2010, Kelly explained how her sobriety journey affected her weight.

"I was called fat and ugly in the press almost my entire life," Kelly explained at the time. "I understand that being judged by others comes with the territory, but it broke my heart and ruined my self-esteem."

"Today marks my 37th birthday and I’m 5 months sober!!!" she wrote on Instagram. "I am filled with so much gratitude it’s almost overwhelming!"

We're wishing Kelly a happy and healthy year ahead!
