Nurse Who Battled Cancer Through School Surprises Her Dad With Fantastic News

As unfortunate as this reality is, it nonetheless holds true that you'd be hard pressed to find a family that hasn't been shaken by cancer.

It's the reason why I was never able to meet one of my grandmothers, but it's also the reason why people of all ages have spent years of their lives in the painful process of fighting for an uncertain future.

But while it's hard to even count the lives this disease has cost us, there have also been some who have made it through the other side and happily rung their own bells upon learning that they're cancer free.

Yet when one woman broke this fantastic news to her father, she decided to get a little creative and leave him figuring out what was going on for himself.

Over four years ago, Victoria Glosson of Oakridge, North Carolina had entered nursing school with the intention of joining the front lines of patient care.

But as ABC News reported, this prospect would face an overwhelming challenge as she neared the end of her third semester when she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma.

However, it wasn't about to stop Glosson from pursuing her dream.

So in the last year and a half of the program, she juggled her responsibilities with her cancer treatments.

And as she described to ABC News, it took a great deal of determination to weather both the draining effects of chemotherapy and the Neulasta shots she would get afterwards to keep her white blood cell count up.

As she put it, "Those shots hurt, and it was like every bit of your bones were breaking. […] I had to be strong so the patients I was taking care of didn’t see my pain."

But while this battle went on, she had the support of her father, Sheriff Barry Glosson, who would often drive her to her commitments.

So when she received a relieving piece of good news, she wanted to make sure he shared in it with her.

But as we're about to see in a TikTok she uploaded, she didn't make it easy for him to find out.

She challenged him to read her lips while she blared loud music through the AirPods we see here.

After he proved he could do that, she softly told him that she's cancer free.

It took him a few tries to understand her and even after he did, it took a second for what she's telling him to truly click.

But as you can see here, he celebrated in the most affirming and heartwarming way once his daughter's good news sunk in.

As he told ABC News, "It was so scary to watch my daughter live this nightmare. The happiness in my heart is indescribable."
