Couple's Discovery Of A Massive Beehive In Their New Home Is Our Worst Nightmare

Buying a new house is sure an undertaking. Am I right? There's so much to do before you move in. And of course, moving day is always a pain. Once you're in, there's plenty of unpacking to do, that's for sure.

But there's one thing this man didn't bargain for when he bought his new home. Once you hear about it, you might have a hard time sleeping tonight. So sorry about that.

Twitter user Andrew Noyes recently bought a new home with his husband.

The couple settled into their new digs in San Francisco. But then they started noticing something strange. There were bee carcasses around their new home, and that set out red flags for them.

They saw bees buzzing around near their home office, bedroom, and bathroom, too.

Wow. This story is getting interesting, no? They also noticed substantial bee activity on the exterior of their home. Most of it centered near a water pipe at the roofline.

And then guess what happened next?

They actually heard sounds coming from the ceiling. It sounded like raindrops. OMG! I would be so freaked out. So they decided to call in an experienced beekeeper to check the situation out. Wow!

As you have probably guessed, the beekeeper confirmed the worst.

There was a beehive in the ceiling. Yikes! He actually used a thermal-imaging device and stethoscope to detect heat. The hive itself gives off heat — and bee activity. Fascinating, right?

Now, what are they going to do?

Once it was confirmed there was indeed a hive in the ceiling, it was time to remove it. The beekeeper had to open it up, and he discovered a giant one hiding in there.

Check this out.

The beekeeper said that the hive was likely active before the couple moved in and had died out. So now he had the task of using a special vacuum to humanely sucking up the bees. I had no idea that even existed.

This was quite the task, and the beekeeper needed to bring in extra help.

The couple also found out that there were robber bees in the hive. Apparently, they come in to steal the honey and take it to their own home. That's not nice, ha, ha!

Here's a close-up picture of the giant hive.

Imagine something like this hiding in the ceiling of your house. No, thank you. I'll pass. I mean, I do love bees. They provide such an important job. But I rather have them make a home somewhere else.

Isn't this story so wild?

I mean, what are the odds of something like this happening, right? I bet it's like one in a million. This story has me on high alert whenever the time comes for us to buy a home. I want to hire a beekeeper now, ha, ha!
