'Sex And The City' Fans Mourn The Loss Of Beloved Actor Willie Garson

Sex and the City fans around the world are mourning the loss of the most beloved character on the series. Willie Garson, who played Stanford Blatch in both the 6 season run of the show and the two SATC movies was filming the reboot And Just Like That... before his death.

Now, fans have taken to social media to honor the late actor.

It was reported Tuesday night that actor and father Willie Garson had passed away at the age of 57.

"Willie Garson was in life, as on-screen, a devoted friend and a bright light for everyone in his universe," an HBO spokesperson said in a statement to CBS News.

"He created one of the most beloved characters from the HBO pantheon and was a member of our family for nearly twenty-five years," the statement continued.

"We are deeply saddened to learn of his passing and extend our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones."

Willie's son Nathen also took to social media to pay tribute to his father.

Sharing a series of photos, Nathen wrote: "I love you so much papa. Rest In Peace and I’m so glad you got to share all your adventures with me and were able to accomplish so much."

"I’m so proud of you. I will always love you, but I think it’s time for you to go on an adventure of your own," he continued.

"You’ll always be with me. Love you more than you will ever know and I’m glad you can be at peace now. You always were the toughest and funniest and smartest person I’ve known. I’m glad you shared you’re love with me. I’ll never forget it or lose it ."

Tributes from Willie's friends and co-stars soon started pouring in as well.

Cynthia Nixon was one of the first to publically mourn her friend, writing "So deeply, deeply sad we have lost @Willie.Garson. We all loved him and adored working with him. He was endlessly funny on-screen and in real life."

She continued:

"He was a source of light, friendship and show business lore. He was a consummate professional— always. My heart goes out to his son, @Nathen_Garson. Nathen, I hope you know how much he loved you and how proud he was to be your dad."

Kristen Davis also shared a heartfelt tribute to the beloved actor.

"I first met Willie in 1995 on the spooky nighttime set of the X-files. He immediately made me laugh. Little did I know that we would have the joy of sharing Sex and the City + And Just Like That together. Willie is beloved by our entire community. He was smarter and funnier than you ever would have imagined. We are bereft without him."

"But I really want to pay tribute to his fearless commitment to single fatherhood," she continued.

"We spoke about being single parents through adoption often. And nothing gave him more joy and pride than his son Nathen. Nathen’s strength and wisdom beyond his years are evident in his beautiful tribute to his dad. The outpouring of love is earned dear Willie."

"I am thankful for all of the time we had and grateful that so much of your bright light is on film forever," she added.

"Maybe we can do our podcast the next time around ? We love you forever xoxo."

In the hours following Wilie's death, fans also took to social media to remember the actor.

In addition to Sex and the City, Willie was also known for his role as Mozzie in the hit TV series White Collar, just two roles among his long list of Hollywood credits.

While Willie did film some scenes for the reboot, "And Just Like That..." will not be the same without him.

We're thinking of Willie's family and friends, especially his son Nathen, during this incredibly difficult time.
