A Little Boy And His 90-Year-Old Grandpa Are Winning At Life Thanks To Their 'Up' Photoshoot

For children, every year their birthday feels like the event of the century, one that ought to be celebrated to the highest caliber. Parents tend to agree, in their own, more rational way, wanting to do all they can to make it feel special.

One mother went above and beyond when helping her son celebrate his birthday, and the results are downright adorable.

When children are young, their parents want to make sure their birthdays are fun and memorable.

A common way to do this is to have a theme geared towards their interests, which helps make the day all the more special for them.

When one mother, Rachel Perman, who also happened to be a photographer, asked her 5-year-old twins what theme they wanted for their birthday photoshoots, she was elated by her son Elijah's answer.

Elijah had chosen an *Up* theme.

That is, Pixar's 2009 movie Up, which was his favorite movie at the time.

He dressed up as Russel, the boy scout protagonist of the movie. While that on its own was cute enough, Elijah's 90-year-old great-grandparents joined in as well, dressing up as Carl and Ellie.

The result is exactly as adorable as you'd imagine.

The three look absolutely stunning together, and the costumes are spot-on.

From Carl's thick, square glasses, to Russel's badge-covered sash, there were no holds barred in this shoot. Not to mention Perman's skill with a camera, which shined through with these sweet photos.

Perman was far from surprised when her son chose the movie as his theme.

"My son is obsessed with Up, so it seemed like a sweet idea to get my grandparents involved with the process," she explained, "Elijah is borderline addicted to Up and has been for several years. It's the only thing he draws and colors, the only books he wants to get at the library, and the only toy he wanted when we were in Disney World last year...He loves Up."

Beyond the sweet moment between the boy and his great-grandparents, this shoot meant a lot to Perman as well.

As she tells, "I chose to do magical shoots for my twins this year because, five years ago, I was diagnosed with cancer right after my twins were born and had fears if I would even get to see their fifth birthday, My oldest was 5 at the time, and I hated not knowing if I would get the same time with them that I got with her. So, for their fifth birthday, I wanted to celebrate the things they love with photos! It's a celebration for me and them!"

Elijah's twin sister, Emilee, decided to do a magical princess themed shoot.

She was dressed up in a pretty pink gown with flowers in her hair, and even had her own unicorn with a flower rein to match! Her photos had a beautiful, magical quality, looking truly fit for a princess.

Perman loves what she does, and is happy her children's happiness can spread so much joy to others.

"The kids loved the shoots! They see me leave frequently to take other people's photos so they were excited to do something special. It's been fun to see how many people are touched by it! I keep telling the kids, 'You are good at bringing happiness to us, now you are making the nation happy, too!'"
