Woman Says Flight Crew Called Police On Her Because Of 'Inappropriate' Outfit

Over the past few weeks, we've seen some bizarre stories that saw women hassled by a business' employees due to what they were wearing.

But while there are many service environments where some may take it upon themselves to impose their own personal dress codes on others, this seems be a particular problem on airplanes.

After all, airline clothing policies tend to be vague, which leaves them up to the interpretation of individual flight crews, who have the final say on what's considered appropriate attire.

And this responsibility seemed to be at the center of one dispute that somehow ended up involving the police.

On September 4, Ray Lin Howard of Fairbanks, Alaska uploaded a TikTok showing police escorting her off an Alaska Airlines flight.

The officers involved interviewed her after this took place and she said the incident started with flight attendants telling her that the gray top she briefly shows in the video was inappropriate.

Thus, they asked her to put the shirt you see here back on, which she said she did.

However, it seems that they weren't any more approving of her outfit after she did so.

In a separate video uploaded on the same day, she showed the outfit in full, saying, "This is what I was wearing when I was told that my outfit was inappropriate."

After Howard put her shirt back on, she was approached again and told she couldn't wear this because parts of her stomach were visible.

And a flight attendant pressed the issue further, Howard recalled saying, "If you're going to kick me off, kick me off. I've done what you've asked me to do and I want you to leave me alone."

In response to her story, the officer said that the main purpose of this interview was to determine whether a crime had taken place and said that he doesn't believe one did.

And while he pointed out that the airline has a dress code policy, Howard said that she examined it as well and her outfit met its requirements.

Bare feet as well as soiled and tattered clothing were prohibited, but none of that applied to Howard's outfit.

As Insider reported, the dress code describes itself as "casual" but requiring a "neat and well-groomed appearance."

However, it also stated that airline employees have the final authority to deny flight to appearances they deem inappropriate.

But while Howard was anxious that this hold-up would make her miss her perfomance (she's a rapper who goes by Fat Trophy Wife), she confirmed that she made it in a different video.

She also provided some updates to the video you see here, one of which saw her confirm that Alaska Airlines refunded her for the three seats she purchased and offered her a discount code for a future flight.

Howard posted another video in response to assumptions that she had made a scene on her flight that shows a comment from a fellow passenger confirming that the only one who raised their voice was the flight attendant.
