Bindi Irwin Posts Powerful Tribute To Steve On 15th Anniversary Of His Death

Although the Irwin family are clearly dedicated to each other, nothing shows that dedication quite like the way they continue to honor Steve Irwin in the 15 years since his sudden death.

This extends to his widow and children carrying on his conservation legacy at the Australia Zoo, but they've also shown throughout the years how much he meant to them as a father, husband, and man.

And on the 15th anniversary of the tragic day in which Irwin met his unexpected end at the barb of a sting ray, his daughter Bindi showed us that she misses him all the more now that she has a child of her own.

Over the years, the Irwins have brought us multiple touching tributes that have brought Steve as close to their big moments without him as possible.

One particularly meaningful example of this came after the first Mother's Day Bindi spent with her daughter Grace in the form of a mural that imagined a world where Steve could hold his granddaughter.

And even before her tribute to her father on this somber day, that possibility is something Bindi has often thought of.

Based on her own experiences with him growing up, she said she is sure that he would've been a great grandfather.

In her words, "I don't think we would've ever seen our daughter. He would've just whisked her away into the zoo and it would've been perfect."

And so on the 15th anniversary of Steve's death, Bindi made it clear that Grace can already recognize him in footage.

As Bindi tweeted out, "This sweetheart lights up seeing her ‘Grandpa Crocodile’ on screen. I wish that Dad could hug my beautiful girl."

But while the reminder that this can't happen is a painful one, Bindi is holding out hope that Steve remains with her and her family in some way.

In her words, "I hold on to the thought that he’s her guardian angel now, watching over the most special part of my life, Grace."
